Have been after a gt for a while now, didnt mind a square or a coupe so i put a wanted ad on here and Jon (g40jon) pm'd me and told me there was a standard gt square on ebay not too far away...

went to see it last saturday, took it for a spin and made the seller an offer he said add £30 to my offer and i can take it! i got it today, a lot better than driving my 1.3 genesis, more torque and a lot nippier, and way cooler!

needs a few bits doing on it, the main being the seat cables so i can have people in the back but mechanically it's very sound, no rust on sills or arches, just the boot. the dent by the boot will knock out relatively easily. has had new petrol tank, battery, cambelt, water pump, alternator etc within the last 10 months...

don't have any major plans for her, generally clean her up- get rid of the rusty tailgate, fit my stereo, mk3 foglamps, headlight protectors when i get them and i'm enquiring about a set of rear arch trims :) also clear indicators all round, pressed metal plates (GB or german, not decided yet) and possibly a decat as it's a H reg

Looks rough around the edges but if its solid then thats the main thing!

White my fav colour for mk3s as well. Probably as good as its going to get as far as standard mk3s go

it's very solid, came with 7 months mot and 5 months tax, done 114k, the lowest mileage mk3 i've owned! tbh it's just the boot that lets it down for me, the ding next to it will bang out and will be sorted in due course...

thats what i wanna know! he seems to be a bit cagey bout letting on how much he paid! anything less than 400 and i'd say hes got himself a bargain! a new tailgate and a bit of ploish and the outside will be near perfect

Just drove from bristol to oxford, was a good journey, a lot more power compared to my 1.3 genesis!

however i think i may need a new relay/solenoid as sometimes it doesn't wanna fire up, turn the key and no engine cranking or anything, fuel pump primes though...

i got it for £330 all in all, came with half a tank of unleaded too, am still loving it. gonna source 2 new front seats as the cables have broken and they have seen better days, would love a scirocco gtII interior, same pattern as the genesis fabric!

Thats not bad for the money. Tailgates an easy fix - undo the bolts and throw it away! On with the new!

Have you checked out the dreaded battery tray??

GT squarebacks are my absolute favourite mk3!

the battery tray seems solid to me!

i am definitely gonna enquire and hunt down a set of rear arch trims for her, i think the contrast between black and white would be good, i have a full set of coupe arch and sill trims so fitting the fronts and sill trims will be straight forward.

gonna fit my fogs soon, jus can't wait to give her a good clean and t-cut :)

just found a place local to get the rear arch trims from... watch this space soon!

Should try and source a german rear light as well. Tidied up the back end of mine no end!

looks a good solid base, for that price spend the same tidying it up and having a hunt round the scrap yards and you will be laughing!
