L reg G40 back on the road

Featured Replies

As some of may no before christmas i bought greggs (LregG) G40 rolling shell as my mk3 g40 had a cracked chassis.so over christmas holiday I've been swapping the engine over

i recovered the whole engine bay loom in the original vw loom tape and fitted electric windows and boost guage i had in my old mk3.I still need to cover the window switch panel in the same black vynal i used on the boost guage panel

I've also fitted front fog lights i had kicking around left from the donor car i used for my mk4.I then took it for mot on the 3rd and she passed so I'm now awaiting my insurance so i can tax it and get it on the road

After a bit of a polish thought id take some pics to show you

looking great really nice shell this....paint is looking great and a very tidy engine transplant.

what normally sits in the centre grille has it been trimmed from the previous intercooler or is there some kind of plastic insert missing?

the bumper has had the bars cut out to fit a front mount i have 1 to go in there but that will have to wait till the mk4s finished off so i have more time

luke

The car looks sweet mate .

Cant wait to see it with a nice shinny set of rims from a refurb .

eeek! dont get different alloys...those look mint on it! this car is great and very inspiring, I'm desperate to get a mk3 instead ofa mark 4 as they are so much lighter and look so cool when done like this! top work buddy! :)

I'm not keen on the rims to be honest thats why i opted to change them that and i already had them plus i cant take any credit for how the car looks so i want to put my own stamp on the car.Other wise it will always be greggs old car thats the reason i have changed the grill and mirrors so far.

appreciate the comments guys

more updates when I've changed the interior

thought u might!

Looking good mate!!

its a shame your not feeling the wheels i think they look amazing to be quite honest, what suspension is it on as it looks well low on the front, does it ride without scrubbing...

the mirrors I'm not too sure on, where were they from? dont think I've seen em on a polo before.

really love this car and I'm glad its living again in new hands, coming to the RR day?

- edit: the window switches there is a nice touch, i might do that with the ones of the golf as I'm still yet to fit them anywhere permanent

the wheels are nice but i think what i have planned will look better plus gregg is having the mattigs back.its on h&r kit 60/40 i think rides really nice goes over speed bumps no probs only bit that catches is where down pipe joins centre section

look at dan crebbs g40 for mirrors

I'm hoping to come to the rr day but not certain

i had the window switches in the door card on the donor g40 but i kept knocking them with my knee so decided to put them there

what are those mirrors off and where can you get them?

i believe there of a manta. ebay but you then need to modify them to fit standard polo arms well easy 1 screw but that was already done

cheers
