Pic Request for mk3 polos with custom wingmirrors. I've had a search and browse but i cant seem to find anyone with customs.. I'd like to see some DTM's preferably :)

i tried for a good long while to find stock base plates to fit the dtm's to the mk3 and i'm almost 100% sure you cant get them. I just fitted them with some bolts nuts and washers in the end and they looked good after some tweeking, ill post some pics in a bit once i find em. I've got f1 style mirrors now which ill try and post too.

made my own brackets! all i did was replicate the triangle shape of the original mirrors, then fitted some 3.5mm machine screws into the baseplate using a nut and washer (they dont need to be flush as there is loads of clearance on the door!) i then screwed the plate to the mirrors using self tapping screws. one that is done its just a case of securing the mirror to the door with some nylock nuts and washers, using the original holes. i used 60mm machine screws, but i had to cut them down once fitted as they were a tad too long and i couldnt refit the plastic cover on the inside of the door. the dtm mirrors were from motorworld and cost £20 and the new baseplate was made out of some random bit of plastic i had kicking around! dont expect everyone to love your dtm mirrors though as they are a bit marmite in the vw world!

haha thanks :) Well personally i think the stock mirrors suck :p Hmm so know one would like my chrome DTMs hehe if i buy them...

So if Dtms need modifying is there any other mirrors that come with the correct baseplate ? :/ I'm not really good with making things xD

I've noticed before on a website that they supply the bracket for mk3's but in brackets it says not coupe. arent they all the same ?

theres not a great deal out there I'm afraid! a company called hagus used to make m3 style mirrors that were direct fit, no modding required, but they were something crazy like £240! di it, tis much more fun than bolting ready made stuff on! a lot of tuning companies call the 6n aka mk4 polo a mk3 cos the mk3 aka 2f hatch and coupe are just regaurded as a facelifted mk2 (if they list mk2 baseplate, then get them cos they will work just fine)

Small carbon mirrors are sick, I've got a set and i love them, cant see fuck all out of them but look wicked!

Is there owt wrong with runnin motorbike mirrors? I can't seem to find anything exciting for cars (tho admitedly I'm not sure where to look!) but I've seen some ace ones for bikes. They only have one mounting point though, but if i bolt it tight enough to the door surely it won't matter?

my mirrors are fitted to a standard polo base with the polo mirror cut off. its then bolted to the mount bracket

so my mirrors ift like a standard polo mirror

u can get car specific base plate for mk3 polo to fit dtm/m3 e.t.c of ebay............shame my base plates turnt up wrong!

Its a VW sharan splitter, an thats all i know as it was already fitted when i bought the car.

Does suit it well tho

Just dont Bother mate no mirrors is the way forward....haha

how do you go about linking the adjuster to it ? I dont have the adjusters and cable on mine as they were corroded and knackered :p are replacements easy to come by for mirror adjusters and cable ? or is it not worth the hastle.
