Been helping my mate install his car pc in his astra, heres a few pics of what we've been up to.........its been a long time comming but things are starting to take shape now.....almost finished!

In the beginning

Then this happened

(this is how things have been looking inside the car for about a year!)

In order to get the screen to fit we had to move the heater controls down into the DIN size cubby hole, sounds a lot easier that it was, a lot of the wire cabling for the vent mechanisms had to be extended

dismantled the touchscreen and flushed the casing into the center console

Also tinted his rear lights one day (used to be fully clear)

Fibreglassed the mounting bracket for the heater controls into its new position

Then came the bodykit (not euro i know but been done to a very high standard, whole kit had been smoothed into original bumpers as apposed to being stuck on)

Last weekend the major installation began:

Installation of the power button for the pc, in drivers door

Dynamatt'd boot

Soldering Iron (The new best friend!)

The power button fully installed, really nice button looks almost factory. Has a small l.e.d in the middle which flickers when the computer is thinking, just like a home pc

Masses of wiring going on

Installed center console, with addition another screen in the top

thats all the pics i have at the mo, progressed a bit more since the last pic, only a bit more wiring to the glovebox to give the pc some power and its pretty much finished. Will try and get some pics of the glovebox soon...the whole pc has been installed in there, its a work of art in itself!

cheers for the comments guys, it certainly has been a lot of work, and I've only been helping my mate on weekends! the center console is not finished yet as it still needs to be flatted back and then polished up, then hopefully should come up a nice gloss black! the whole thing should be completed within a couple of weeks, would have been sooner but uni commitments are delaying the whole thing

I'm slightly confused as to why you'd need two screens in your car?

no-one NEEDS two screens in their car mate! its gonna be set up so that when a movie is being played on the bottom screen the top screen can display other windows i.e iTunes ect but with the flick of a button they can bot display the same thing at the same time.

See what you want on an Astra is factory tinted lights and the factory body kit for the SRi or GSi...then the car would look half decent....

Then get what ever suspension/wheel/tyre combination the 2.2 SRi has because the road holding is really good, corners so flat and isn't overly firm.
