Gritter Trauma

Featured Replies

I just turned off the farm avenue onto the main road seeing the flashing lights up ahead thinking nothing of it (It's stormy but not frosty weather) and I'm like "It can't be a gritter, surely not it's too mild, oh sh%t it is!" and then got showered with what felt like 25 bags of gravel

My car is no show stopper but I have made an effort to look after the paint. I'll be scared to look at it tomorrow in the light :-( Believe it or not where I stay we have very little snow/ice maybe about a fortnight of the year but no some prick decides to put the gritters out because of a storm. The salt is washing away as I type in the rain.

Sorry had to get that off my chest..

I've drove past a few gritters, never scratched my car, does sound horrible though when all the grit is blasting the car  the cu*ts could at least turn it off for 2 secs while you drive past

Yeah, far better they leave a 50 yard icey patch on both sides of the road than chance slightly scratching someone's car.

Exactly, got no respect for other peoples cars them gritter drivers

Never seen a gritter on the road ever where i live...and i will admit i thought this thread said glitter trauma.

I'm guessing if people have been in your situtation and their cars were ok yours will be too

I have tried various ways to get past 'em or avoid them to limit the damage.

Nothing seems to work.

If there's any damage try sue the council... :ninja:

Rat look

Scene points +1 for genuine patina

I was rollin a grit look this time last year, It was horrid, white dots all down the front like I'd been paintballing!

I'm thinking about taking my mk1 down to thair depot and getting them to drive round it a few times til the shell's been totally grit blasted. Got to be cheaper than paint stripper.

buy a full car bra!

And watch the looks you get when you walk in a shop and ask for 100 sq metres of neoprene.

You havnt had to go past one on the motorway ..

Now thats cringeworthy ..

Better than being in front of three abreast on the motorway, particuarly when they're going faster than you can and their's bugger all you can do about it.

Shit no way what car were you in?? Take it they overtook?!

158bhp of Toyota Camry. Not much use in the snow though. I up and over'd a junction and fed back in behind them.

 I LOLed.

Gritters are a necessary evil, but it's frustrating when you overtake one on the motorway and this happens.

Better than spinning off into the central reservation though.

you'd think they would improve the gritters design so the grit was fed out lower down to the road so theres less chance of it splattering up the side/front of the cars

I've been sporting the look for the past month.. I can't justify washing it to take it on the A14 the next day and it be like it again! And it is a shitty corsa anyway..

What the fuck? Am I actually reading this?

You are complaining about gritters? And think they are there to purposely damage your car?
