Woke up this morning to find the security fence

on the building site had fallen down and hit the G40.

I usually don't park it on the street but i was late in

last night and thought it'd be okay for one night....

Man thats a nightmare

That was the worst storm we've had in a while. I've been lucky theres fences blown over all round, including a whole shed has skipped two gardens. but the car seems alright.

Did it get anything other than the mirror? hope you can get it sorted ok. Those fences are like big fucking cheese graters.

My windging about being pebble dashed by a gritter seems like nothing now.

Herris fencing is gay .

Did it do anything to any panels ? Paintwork ?

Majour bummer iff it did .

I imagine you wont be parking on the street again .

Where i work we use herras fencing all the time and its shit for falling over and causing damage, weve had a few complaints sayin its fell into someones car

You reckon you could claim for the damage ?

Arent they supposed to be joined together with metal clamp stlye things? (dont know what they're called ) so they dont do exactly that?

is the only damage the wing mirror? If so, that's lucky really, could've been a whole lot worse!

Public liability insurance should cover it?

Winds must have been bad all over the country last night then?

I was amazed my Saxo never got blown away last night was that windy.

It got a bit of the door,the A panel at the bottom of the windscreen

the top of the wing and a bit of the bonnet.Spoke to the site agent

and to be fair to him,he held his hands up and admitted it was their

fault for not having the fencing made securely enough.I've to go

and see him in the morning with all the details and a few pics and

i guess i'll take it from there....

theres always the option of parking it on the road. that way less chance of tiles flying on to it and causing damage

yip i was guna say, ask to speak to the site manager and take it from there, that fencing hasnt been properly erected or supported by the looks of things

they will have liability insurance to cover that :)

That sucks, but it could be worse:

ouch gutted! storm was bad over here in north wales to! took the rest of my rotten mk1 cabrio roof with it was well gutted!

My damage lastnight to my G40 lastnight too! Wheeliebin blew over on my parents driveway and also took the passengers side wingmirror off!

What is it about wingmirrors??

I had a big wooden packing crate crash into the Golf at work today as well - its moved the bumper a bit by the looks of things, probably broken one of the brackets :(

We had a power cut from about 8 till 10 last night too!

This is a lot worse than the last 2 years I've been up here!

I'm always paranoid about leaving my car anywhere that isn't particularly open when theres strong winds. My cars already avoided having one of next doors roof slates on it (my mum's Meriva got hit with it instead whilst parked next to my car on the drive).

Thankfully its superficial damage and nothing like that Shogun Pinin that Alex posted up!

It does sound like your being very lucky .

Contractors on my projects onsite can really take the piss with things .

You do have a case against them as the Heris fencing should be secure.

I think you maywell be able to sort things out but i imagine it will take a long time .

No sign of any plates at all on any of that fencing - pisstake

Why put it up in the first place? If someone wanted to get in all they'd have to do is lift one end of one panel.

Not that I'd know anything about doing that sort of thing of course
