i just wondered what speakers everyone has got in their dash, as i wanna upgrade from the vw standard ones as they are really poo!!!

I managed to find some Focal 3.5" 2-ways really cheap on ebay, they sounded really good for the size of them too. I also like the 3.5" 2-ways that Alpine do.

I put Infinities (3 1/2") in mine... Purely because I got a good price on them... When I was shopping for them, I found JBL did some in the GTO series... They wouldn't show throught the grilles (infinities have white cones, and the felt stuff inside my grilles had died, so I took it off...) ... My spies tell me Infinity and JBL are made in the same factory, so quality's similar...

Both sound good for the money.

Question is, why do my 6x9"s keep dying, when they get the same signal as the 3 1/2"s??? I can feel another post coming on!

2-way have a big speaker with a seperate smaller speaker inside.

3-way have a big speaker with a sperate smaller speaker inside then an even smaller speaker inside..

Basically for high, mid and low tones.. TBH on a 10cm speaker 2-way is pushing it.. 3 way is a waste of money or time.

i got 'risen 4 inch speakers' from maplin for £5

I found out afterwards that i need 3.5 lol so I've sawn the hole abit bigger to fit them in.

soooome Alpine SXE-1025S i think they're called. About 25W rms, sound really good despite the lowish power, really clear and can handle bass without distorting at all. Think i got em for £20 off ebay brand new, but they're 4" so i had to cut the dash too.

i got these through the post this morning, after they mucked up the order!!!

i ordered the jbl gto 327 3.5" speakers and ended up with juice js43 10cm 3 way 140watts

they look as if i ended up with better speakers as the jbl ones were 75 watts!!!

well I've tried screwing a hole with this tool i have but the plastic is to solid. and the windscreen is in the way so you cant get a drill there. hmm i might be able to sink them down abit more but they would catch on the metal of the car..

I might have to glue them in..

I'm cutting the speaker covers to fit over them.

Tools i used: Small Coping Saw, Thin Chisel and Wide chisel with a big hammer :p and there strange rough file thats used for tiling i think, the normal ones are called 'rats tail' file.

you could get a 90 degree bend drill bit, drill the holes and use self taping screws to fix the speackers in with.

go on ebay and put in 3.5" car speakers, u should find some on there
