I'd definetly get Nikon D40 or D40x.

Cheap, good and user friendly

I got a D40x for the same reason as you and I love it.

canon eos 20D :-D

OR samsung nv 10, more mega pixels than ma slr! nice compact camera

£300+ for a camera to take pictures

and.....a mans got needs!

I got a Fuji S6500fd last year as my first digital SLR, its a cracking little camera and really easy to learn how to use

The S6500FD is a good camera, but is not an SLR.

ild recomend a kodak disposable personally, only problem is i cant ever work out the flash :doubt:

i assume you're talking digital SLR.

Canon 400D, good for beginners and advanced photographers.

i have one and i have absolutely no complaints at all.

here's an example from my 400D, that's with a sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens.

After using a range of Canon SLRs and Nikon D70s and D80s i must say the Canon's seem much easier and simpler to use.
