hi I'm looking at a mk 4 polo need to update the mk3 coupe iv got can some one tell me all the engine sizes that they did, any extra info would also be helpful such as trim levels L :oops: cl etc thanks :-)

1.0, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6 8 valve petrols... 1.4 and 1.6 16 valve petrols (only the 1.4 here) and the 1.9 8 valve diesel.

Couldn't tell you about the trim levels, but I think L is the lowest and the only thing it comes with are electric mirrors. SEs and GLXs usually have a few more toys and 16v lights and bumpers IIRC.

nice thanks for the link I'm after a polo 4 the misses to pass her test the 999cc looks good economnical and cheap to insure or poss the later 1.4 8v so i can drive comfortably due to being used to a v6 4mo lol

To be perfectly honest mate both the 1.0 and 1.4 8 valves are gutless, pretty much both as slow as each other. In fact, the 1.0s gearing makes it seem quicker than the 1.4! The 1.6 is only group 4 insurance and a FAR better drive than the 1.0 or 1.4. Go for that mate, unless you can get your missus insured cheap on a 1.4 16v.
