That's a big heavy flywheel you have.

That's a big heavy flywheel you have.

Yeah i know, i took it to my local engineering place and said theres knowhere to realy lighten it? can i fit another models flywheel?

Oh and cheers to everyone whos commented

Are you sure the flywheel is going to fit your gearbox? you might have clearence issues with the alternator pulley too.

All can be swapped for polo items

Very nice!

You can use the flywheel from the MK3 Golf 1.4,which i think is even lighter than the 6n 1.0 flywheel i used on my AEE. Suprisingly. I'm also suprised you didnt raise those carbs, mine are like 30 degrees further up and higher than the dipstick. My only other concern - thats one spicy engine for a Polo box! Top-notch oil and tight 5th selector key are all you can do.

That fly doesnt look worrying, though. Its fine for the gearbox and id be amazed if it weighs more than 6.5kgs. The lightened S item in my 1.4 is 4.6kgs but the 1.6 i previously used spun a 6.3kg item faster - it really does have that much more leg!

Mikey what would my AEE do to a GT gearbox? Kill it nicely?

what fuel pump you going to use BIG? i got myself a facet one last week, but I'm a bit stck with what to do with the old unit

Cheers everyone,

CARVER: the engine is origionaly from a 6n so the flywheel will fit, but its just heavy!!

OLDROPE: I'm going to change the in tank pump to a single point injection pump (1 BAR) from a multi point injection pump (3 BAR), then use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator down to 2-3 p.s.i

ahhh nice one. you going de-cat aswell when its fitted?
