No it wont, as long as there is no mechinism. Legally you only need the front. If you only remove the rear wiper arm and leave the spinal it can fail as it can be seen as a hazard to pedestrians..

Take out the whole lot and put a blank in and you'll be fine

yeah my passat is like that, it drives me mad, when it's raining you cant see out of the rear window properly. I've never really worked out why saloon cars often don't have rear wipers. The saloon polo I used to have didn't have one either.

You don't need to have front wipers either if you have no windscreen! Bizarrely you can pass an mot with no windscreen and then you dont need wipers or a washer!

if they are designed better [clk] the air will clear the rear screen.

as soon as i get to about 50 you can see all the water on my rear screen gettin sucked down!

If it is a saloon with a boot that hinges at the bottom of the the rear window, they leave the wiper off so they don't have to think about any clearance issues that could arise.
