diconnecting the AFM is not fixixing the problem. They are needed, and rarely fail or give problems. Disconnecting it means the ecu isn't getting all the signals it needs and runs a safe map, which will mask the fault elsewhere.

anything else we can try? i hav tried unplugging the afm but the car just cuts out.

cheers for that mate ill get one on order,

so far I've check the coil and blue temp sender there both fine, its had new plugs and leads, rotar arm and cap.

how do i go about checking them lamba and the throttle position sensor and AFM? I've tried unplugging the afm to see if that changed anything but it just cuts out.

went to take it out pulled off the drive and it starts juddering and then cuts out, it then wouldnt start for a few mins, then when it did it just cut out, anyway managed to get it back in the garage, and went to let it tick ova for a min but then it just died, it will fire up but just cuts out afterwards,

help me please

I've got all weekend to find out, I've got a new tank to go on so i might aswell try that first, shall i replace the lines aswell? who supplys them?

The fuel lines will be fine. Just undo them at both ends and blow them through with compressed air.

Very rare(if ever) to have to replace with new ones.

afm,

only things i haven't checked are the injectors, or fuel pumps, but seeing as the car ticks over fine i would of thought these would have been ok,

starting to lose hair now

likewise buddy, tried the same as you apart from the hall sender. The only different ones I've done were the potentiometer and the coolant temp sensor.....

Did u fit the new tank? I unbolted and disconnected mine today but it wouldnt drop down, any particular way it comes out?? It was a bit too dark at this point so couldnt see much.

going to take the injectors out to day and see if there blocked, I've still got to fit my new tank and change some old earth straps,

then see what that does

Oh i've been there already. Had a new petrol tank, well three actually. First was wrong one, second had hole in it. Third took a year to get on.

Anyhow, i know this might sound silly but two things come to mind 1) have you checked the idle screw hasn't slipped?

2) It might be worth changing the fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently.

My GT was runnning like a complete and utter dog. I thought it was the idling so changed that to no avail. Then i decided to have a go with the fuel filter. Was a bitch to take off as the screws had rusted to hell but BINGO! When i poured the fuel out it was brown. Methinks brown fuel shouldn't get into the engine.

It's not that difficult a job and to be honest would have saved me the hassle of changing sparks, HT, dizzy cap and rotor etc.

fuel lines on wrong way round. swap them around nr cam belt me thinks

if that was the case it would have been a problem from the start but its only just started playing up, so cant see it being that!

ok well decided to check the blue temp sender again i disconnected the blue temp sender and plugged it into the the black sender and all is good car now runs fine, so just need to get a new blue temp sender and ill be sorted :-D
