The White Square Of Doooooom!

Featured Replies

Personally I think out of all the best Polos (mk1-3) mk2 squares are the ugliest.

But thats why I want one, so I can make it lovable

i beg to differ i think mk2 squares are one of the best looking dont know why i just really like em...

cant wait to see it with some new wheels on now

man I'm lookin forward to seeing what you do with this! gimmi a holla and il give you a hand, got 3 weeks off soon so use and abuse me ......"ahem".....

splitties took a hard winter lookin at them kam!

Kam, if you're after some RM 0.5" original-spec outers I have some. Can bring to the RR day and hand them over in exchange for £80 :-) they are polished and lacquered and all in great condition but one has a minor dent and has broken the lacquer ever so slightly after I encountered a Scottish pothole last year.

I'm not being funny but why would I pay £80 (which is over priced imo) for something I've already got and can repair in a few hours?

Burna - come down the unit tomorrow, looks like a few people are coming down, which is good cause were having a shifty around, lol.

That's going to look sweet when finished!! Billy thats maybe the nicest mk2 I've ever seen, and Heartagram be careful of that coke, it's naughty stuff!!

Once did an experiment back when I was about 8, where one of my teeth fell out and I put it in a glass of coke for a week to monitor the progress... I've never seen a tooth decay so fast!!

Heartagram check out www.diynetwork.com they have some very useful guides about repairing rusted bodywork and that. Alternatively if you read the Haynes manual it suggests cutting the rust out, bending the edge of the hole youre left with inwards, applying an aluminium or fibreglass mesh into the hole, and using filler over it. The filler will secure the mesh into the hole and you can begin smoothing it. I'm going to get a spare mk3 arch and attempt it myself. You gona try and get the bodywork back to mint? Lucky for you the mk2 is Alpine White so you wont have any difficulty matchin up the paint, altho my mk3 is metallic blue so I've had nightmares about trying it!! lol

Those RM's 15" yea? Cars gonna look pimp lol

The lad I share a unit with built this (as in did everything himself).

So I have someone who is good with all that body work stuff to hand!

RM's are 15s, don't see enough squares on 15s so should look quite different. Plus the usual stupid Kam touches should help

nice lupo what width are those alleycats?

square should look sick on 15s after some arch bashing

13x6, he took them off though because the exhaust kept falling off cause its that low, LOL.

I've some goodies that will spice up that little beasty Kam.

I've got a pair of Corrado Front in grey seats, pretty much the same colour and pattern as the GT trim, not brilliant condition but good enough.

Complete GT black interior.

LHD rear cluster (all red)

The alloy wheels off Marks GT

A powder coated rocker cover, gloss black, not used since refurb, just sat in my bedroom looking pretty, I was going to use this on my G40 and use a small catch tank with it.

Probably some other bits floating around.

All spare or awaiting sale.

If you're interested in any of it I can bring them up to ED38 in the summer, and for you Kam, you can have them at bum rape prices.

I'd be interested in the rear cluster. I was going to tint mine but if I can get a genuine one then thats much better!

Let me know how much you want for it including shipping and I'll hook a brother up.

I'm thinking about getting my GT trim retrimmed with something different. Nothing fancy like leather, just cloth!

Ah well these are just taking up room so I was hoping you were going to say £20 for the grey corrado seats and I was going to say yep, meet you at ED38.

I'll get the cluster off at the weekend. It shouldn't cost much postage, I think I may even have the VW box it came in. Say £2 for postage. What price do you want to pay?

  • Author

Dunno, I paid £7.50 for the one on my other square so call it a tenner delivered?

E38 is miles away, who knows if I'll even still have the car then, lol. If you were closer (like within 100 miles) I'd have the Rado seats off you. Kents a bit far to go tbh!

Yeah OK.

I'll get it off at the weekend and send it.

Nice one.

Had half an hour to spare so started off on one of the RMs. I quickly Autosol'd a bit just to see how it was looking. All the pitting has come out so now its ready for going through the grades and getting a mirror finish again. Some how I have managed to get 4 stone chips in the lip, fuck knows how!

Good start though, maybe another half an hour tomorrow and it should be nearly done. Then 3 more to go!

its getin there kam good luck!

Oh yeah, on another note. Dnn't use halfords wet and dry. Its absolute shite. The stuff we normally use, you can use it, leave it, then use it again. Can use it loads of times. That stuff, wore away so quickly. Used a whole sheet in next to no time. Was utterly wank.

The old stuff they used to do was pretty good, but this new stuff with the blue back is trash!

Been on with the wheels again but I could only bare about 15mins of the cold today. Normally I'm okay in the cold but its SO windy today that you just get swept away!

Anyway, 45 mins spent on the wheels so far. Not perfect, but better than they were!!

Not perfect maybe, but pretty bloody good so far! Were your bolts (the ones you dipped in Diet Coke) originals or did they come from some place like JustMatz?

Cheers

lookin good mate. nice little project, just as you like it

Looking forward to see it finished.;)

  • Author

I dunno about the bolts. My mate bought them off his mate and I dunno where he got them from.

Its only a wee side project, nothing major is going to happen with it. Just so I can jump in something fun as soon as the Lupo is gone. Its not standing in the way of the other square though! Well maybe when the other ones done I'll do something with this one :p
