My grandad has a few vintage wagons and you should see them zoom across the countryside without trailers, pretty powerful!

The fun you can have with just a tractor unit on its own...

I remember picking up a Volvo FH12 Globetrotter from the Volvo service centre with my uncle who is a mechanic for a haulage firm (I know that sounds bizarre us picking up a truck from being fixed when he was the mechanic, but the truck came with 3 years free servicing and at that point was 12 months old). Anyway, on the wet roads there was a silly amount of wheelspin and the thing wanted to slide round corners. On one occassion I nearly went through the side window as we went around a corner due to the height and the spring loaded cab. That was only the 420bhp model. I'd hate to think what an unhitched 570 would be like. I couldn't get over the number of gears too, I think it was around about 18 or so available, as there was a standard 6 speed transmission, then there were half gears and an over-drive for each gear.

I'll second that!

I had a go of an old truck about 2 years ago and it is to this day the most fun I've had driving a vehicle. The best way to drive them (and the only way really) is to thrash the living shit out of them, and they are pretty nippy considdering they weigh quite a few tons. The amount of gears is fun too, constantly changing and skipping gears and it makes you feel really manly, hauling back this huge gearstick then flick a switch then throw it forward. Great fun :)

HE HE moobs :p

Best thing is driving fully laden bin lorries around wet roundabout (although if Cleanaway were to read this, my mate would probably get sacked for letting me have a go ).

32 tonnes, and opposite lock thankyou very much!

Been through the dyno on quite alot of lorries and they are absolute monsters! Had a go at running them up just as they were coming off the production line too, they make a pretty thunderous noise at the limiter!

Ha! My dad drives a 7.5 tonner and that makes a right row! He also aims for people at bus stops when theres puddles... Was not to impressed the day he splashed me!

i was in the drive thru queue at mcdonalds and there were these two saxos in front having a "rev off" it was funny as hell, they were getting really annoyed with each other.
