Hi guys

As time goes on my tools collection increases and parts list is growing.

Initially I got a shed to put it all in but now I am thinking it is not secure enough. I know I could get in if needed without the key! Where do you store your stuff?

I do not have a garage.

The only thing I can think of is bring some off the more valuable/expensive tools into the house, but I do not want that.

What is the best form of shed security available?

A shed isn't going to offer any security at all!

Sheds are regularly broken into just by people kicking through the walls!

Find yourself a lockup somewhere, much more secure.

I keep mine in the house.

Erm, either in my room, in the garden, in the shed or in the garage!

I can leave the headunit in my car and unlocked coz no one will knick it!

But no keep it somewhere locked up!

I reckon you'd be better off with some kind of metal storage box than a shed. Could bolt it to the ground. Or keep them in the house. In a shed or a box they'll no doubt be getting fairly damp too which wont do them any good.

if youve got a lockable roll cab/ top box you can always chain them to the ground via an anchor bolt or similar

Mine are usually found in the garage/ conservatory/ kitchen/ car.

Cheapo second hand filing cabinets. They're going to have to either make a hell of a noise hammering the lock out or take everything (good luck - mine must weigh about 1/4 of a tonne each easily).

I also have the basics in a top cab in the back of the van, but my van locks up very well.

All mine live in my parents garage, along with an aladdins cave of car bits everywhere lol. I'd advise keeping them in the house, or in a large metal chest that can be secured to the ground.

I have an old wooden chest in there that they used to live in, til i got sick of it. But i used to pile random things on top, and around, so that it would have taken a while and lots of noise to even see in there. For all anyone else knew, it could have held paint tins or anything. I intended to get some metal bars around it to make it impossible to open, cause theres no way anyone could have lifted it with all my tools, jack, stands, metal bars etc etc inside.

Kinda leave them on my work bench outside. Suprised they haven't been nicked. Only reason I'm saying this on a public forum is I'm clearing them up and stashing them lol

best place is in a tool cabinent that can be locked and bolted/chained securly to the ground. this can then be kept in your shed for easy access and as for parts the easyest way i have found is fileing cabinents and used cardsboard boxes/seperators to keep all the bits seperate.

A very very noisey metal shed combined with alarms and two dogs.

My tools are kept locked away in my garage.

I've got a big garage

I don't have a lot but my spare wheels are kept in the cellar - some advantage of living in an old terraced house :(
