i see these signs in my area, what is it for? anyone else seen them?

i was thinking that this morning whilst driving into kingston, i guess its to do with congestion charging, as obviously the lower the emissions the more friendly the charging?

yeah i spotted them when i was back in west london at the weekend... theres tons of those emissions cameras everywhere as well...

..i get the feeling they're gonna start chargin people depending on their cars emissions!

The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) will affect older, diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, minibuses and large vans (exceeding 1.205 tonnes unladen weight).

It will also affect other specialist vehicles that are derived from lorries and vans, including motorised horse boxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, gritters, sweepers, concrete mixers, tippers, removals lorries, fire appliances, motor caravans, ambulances and large hearses (over 2.5 tonnes).

There will be a phased introduction of the LEZ from 4 February 2008 through to January 2012. Different vehicles will be affected over time and increasingly tougher emissions standards will apply.

so its going to be a kind of toll... but cars are ok...for now

it did make me laugh when i drove past an american car sales lot and you had the old escalades, hummers, dodge rams etc sitting there and these low emissions signs everywhere!

Yes its another of that loony red C**T Livingstones ideas to fuck the general public over and force everyone who has to do any trade inside the M25 to buy new vehicles (how very green is that?) it will eventually mean all goods vehicles ambulances etc etc will have to be replaced, so expect to see prices in the cost of everything that has to be brought by road to go up.

You will notice the government haven't raised any issues against comrade Ken as they stand to make millions in extra VAT and import duty from all the new vehicles that are having to be purchased!!!!

My family's business operates just outside London and we are already getting letters warning us that we will be charged £200 a day if we enter his designated zone in the wrong type of lorry, nice, as we cant afford to replace our lorry's as being a small business we cant afford to get into over £100000 of debt so we can continue trading in the areas that we have been for over 100 years, ill thought out oppression like this is bang out of order and already affecting loads of business, how Ken can enforce shit like this on the majority and threaten peoples lively hood beggars belief.

as much as i love the environment and natural beauty, I'm sick to death of the government fuckin us over for essentially nothing

we pay more and more for fuel tax & road tax and i can even drive down a lot of roads in manchester at over 15/20mph coz i know my car will find a random bump and get fucked

no matter what we contribute it will be nothing on what the chinese/usa put out to even it out anyway

its a joke really, they have a point but its sometimes unrealistic, makes u think what is next and what is its gona be like in the next 2 or 3 years?!!
