Max - it's fairly quick...managed to squeeze 117 out of it (speedo) with 3 in the car, and a boot full of stuff. That was before the 4-2-1 manifold, and i've just ordered a Newman cam too, so I hope to improve on that figure very soon...watch this space..!

I had 195/45/14 Toyo Proxes T1Rs up front (needed 3mm spacers due to inside wall rubbing on strut though) and 185/50/14 Yokohama A539's on the rear.

I had A539's on the front too before the Proxes, and i'd have to recommend the A539's for the front, as they seemed to hold on for a lot longer in the bends. The proxes seemed too soft (if that's possible, lol) and felt like they would just disintigrate as you turned the wheel = understeer.

Camskill is where i bought the tyres from.

A small update:

Got hold of some mk2 Coupe S archtrims and some GT sill trims. Gonna sort the sills out next week and get the trims on, then gotta un-roll the arches so I can attach the arch trims. Also got another front bumper as i managed to rip mine off on a high (read: dropped) kerb the other week (cable ties FTW! Drift stylez!!!) So gonna get that on too hopefully in the next 2 weeks.

Oh, and my clutch pressure plate has decided to give up, so i need a new clutch, and probably therefore cable due to the extra stress being put on it now, and most likely a new pedal box, as the clutch pedal is now 1" lower than the brake pedal, and is at a funny angle....not good. Anybody know how the pedal box is attached on a mk3? Is it welded or bol;ted in place?

Well, got the clutch done last week, and that hasn't solved the stiff pedal problem, so i sprayed inside the cable housing from the gearbox end, and also sprayed the clutch fork hinge and the pedal is now fairly light again, it just creaks really bad at the pedal-box end. Anyone know how the pedal-box attaches to the car? Bolts or welds?

Also changed the brake hoses for braided ones and installed a 22.2mm master cylinder (yes, 22.2mm NOT 22mm incase people are confused. AFAIK 22mm ones will fit, but the 22.2mm one was £30 cheaper from GSF) and i have to say the difference is amazing. Bit difficult to get used to, but there's so much more confidence in the pedal. Whereas before if i pushed harder on the pedal it would just feel spongy, but now the pedal stays firm and you stop like funk!

Highly recommended. Mk1 Golf GTI Braided Hoses ~ £35 from GSF, well worth it!

i had the same problem, just straighten the pedal out if its bent, but the box is bolted if u need to replace.

You should squeeze more than 117 out of it with a cam and 4branch.....my speedo has read just over 120/hit limiter in 5th With 4branch, dewedged throttle body, gti afm and poloace chip (standard limiter tho :( ) But i think it may have a lot to do with the 175/50/13 's :ninja:

And i've yet to go for a top speed run with the cam in. Managed the top speed run on way to modified nationals last year (stopped off at a runway, of course) and guess what....it's modified nationals next weekend....:-D

Boo-y a!! 120 indicated (probably more like 60 actual) speed on way back. Oh yeah! Couldn't take it any higher as I was closing in on a bmw 330i...

175/60/13's, on RA's.

Not too far out then i dont reckon, mines on 175/50/13s, RA's aswell So speedos plenty out at high speed

Lol. They A539's? How low are you? I wanna go for a 50 profile but i'm worried it'll scrape everywhere...i mean the manifold is almost on the floor as is!

Yer a539's :) I'm moving onto 15"s soon, just because i fancy it Although with people in the back it scrapes far too much.....

Hmm, i'm very tempted now. I've just got me a 1l Genesis bready as a daily, so when the insurance runs out on the GT i'll be taking her off the road, stripping the interior out and plonking an abd running bike carbs in the bay, so no worries about rear passengers.
