a MH 5speed will do 110 if you give it long enough but it might hate u if you do it all the time n ull probs hav 2 stop n refill by the time you get there lol!

My GT used to max out at 121mph (sat nav speed) about 140 on the clock

and thats with a cam and a 8k limiter.

yeh mine does 120 by the speedo so probably 114,

point am mekin is 4 gears???

i am agreeing with you.

my GT with a cam etc could just about make 121. no chance matey does it with a 4 speed

:-) my bad

My 1272spi maxed out on the level at exactly the quoted figure (IIRC) - a whopping 96mph (indicated). Took about 2 miles to get there mind! Top speed doesn't interest me though (that's my excuse anyway hehe)

Can't be right, trust me, even a standard 1.3 SPI should do more than that. Maybe your speedo was under-reading?

well my 6N AEE went of the clocks when i drove it and had put new needles on it , i was easily doin 140 ( but then again it did 45 at idle ) then i moved the needle and it'll do what the book said with a run on the hill to brighton .

What's book figure for a 1.6 6n?

a wooping 107 i think or 117 not sure , not fast enought for a 1.6 anyway , i think with a longer box it would easily go faster

Longer box? Do you realise the 1.6 box is stupidly long already?

I normally fill up before I get to that little marker.

The one thing I never understood is these people who put £5/10 in there car. Your going to just have to keep going back more often than if you just fill it up once and be done with it

aah but carrying less fuel about with you means your car is lighter and you use less fuel, or something like that. I just don't like spending more than a tenner at a petrol station unless I'm going far away, it feels like I'm spending money for nothing.

It aint like petrol is cheaper in bulk, it just means you're buying a load of petrol in one hit when you may need the extra dosh the next day. Plus the car always looks ace under petrol station lighting.

I was doing 168 when overtaking a Lambo the other day :paranoid:

I don't really like to brag about speed so I just stick to a sensible 140-150 in the Golf

I drink optimax in the morning it what keeps me lit thought out the day

oh yea well obvioulsy, but I wanted to see what 4th was like :D

I've seen a difference using optimax when I had my 1641 twin port engine in my beetle... Used to run pretty average, even after it was tuned it will still ok, then I let it run low on fuel, filled with optimax and it actually made a difference! Made the engine feel smoother... So my golf gets regular and my GT gets optimax... Lol

Don't see how the battery and crap can help...

he needed the new altornator to produce more gigawatts!

what'll the mk3 polo 5 speed bow top out at... non gt

are you joking? my old 1.6 used to be reving its nuts off at 70, i was always looking for the non existant 6th gear!

Odd... Thought it was about the same as an 8P.
