x reg polo wipers on constant

Featured Replies

hi all,

I've got an x reg 1.4 tdi color concept polo and the windscreen wipers are not playing ball.

as soon as you turn the ignition on the wiper will start, the only way to stop them is to take the fuse out, they dont do it all the time tho?

is there a relay for them or could it be a dodgy wiper stalk?

thanks in advance.

Relay 19 controls the wipers.

You can swap it for another 19 or a 99. They're on almost all 1990s VWs.

The 99 has extra functions, and should be cheap, so it's worth getting in itself apart from enabling you to narrow down the fault

EDIT:

Just seen you drive a colour concept. Do you have a rain sensor? If you do none of the above applies.

thanks for the reply, and no it doesnt have a rain sensor, well I've just removed the 19 relay and the wipers only work when you put them on full which is better than all the time !

ill get a new relay on monday.

thanks.
