hey everyone.

started the car this morning and the ABS light stays on constantly.

Was out in it last night but didn't come on.

any one have any idea what this may be?

ABS problem?

could be anything from a dodgy sensor to a dead abs unit,easiest thing to do is get it plugged into vag-com/diagnostic machine and see what it says.

Sounds like you need a new abs sensor, can you vag com this sort of thing?

It's logged a fault with the ABS. The system resets itself on start up(on the system on my VR6 anyway) so the light won't necessarily stay on all the time unless the fault is there all the time. If the ABS trips out for just a second, the light comes on, even though the fault may not be there after that. Next time the light appears, pull over to the side of the road, switch the car off, wait a few seconds, and the restart the car again. If it's a major fault, the light will still be there. If not, it won't.

Either way, it needs a VAG-COM or fault code reader of some sort to see what caused the problem in the first place.

I had this problem, its just a stupid sensor.

My ABS light came on, next day it was working perfectly fine. Id say give it a day or so, if it's still there get it checked out.

i had one on a golf. sensor ring on one of the rear wheels was corroded and would occasionally bring the abs light on. replaced the ring and that sorted the problem.
