as above. the splash guards inside the arches rub quite abit. can i remove them or trim, or just do something to get them further from the tyre?

I usually leave mine in a bin.

rip them out, i kept mine just incace i need them in the future but atm they are just sat in the workshop.

trim away the edge that meets the arch lip should give you sufficient clearance

One of the reasons that there are very few mk1 Scirocco's yet plenty of mk1 Golf's even though they share the same chassis is that the Scirocco wasn't fitted with the wheelarch liners so the inner wings rotted away. Same with my Opel Manta. They fill the wheel well with crap and rot through.

As above, they stop your wings rusting.

and if i just trim them wont they just flop around as the edge where they rub is held up by a few screws?

and underseal should sort thr rust out?

I used to jet wash out my arches regularly.

I think its only when there is mud and crap stuck in the arches that sits there and stays damp that it rots through your arches. I maybe wrong though.

only problem with that is that I'm taking them out to go lower, theres hardly an arch gap now, you cant get a finger under there let alone a jet wash!

Thats why you carry bricks in the boot so you can drive the car onto them and get to the arches from underneath the car.

Pettsy filled those gaps on his G40 with expanding foam and then cut it away to the right shape etc and then undersealed it all. That way no shit behind the rear arch and you can take more off if needs be. Also he says that it hasn't moved since he did it. Sounds like a good plan to me as long as you can't tell. You can always remove more or all of it if needs be. Its light and cheap too!!

Just gotta make sure you don't trap moisture in when you use the foam cause that has disaster written all over it

^^ good point..... anyone following what i put make sure that you have properly cleaned and dried the area. Would leave the car to dry in a garage for a day or too before doing that.

Well there is a gap between the wheel and the bumper if you look at your car from the side, just slide the brick in and drive it up. Then slide another one in front of the first brick to create a platform for your car. Then just get in from underneath and jet wash then put full lock on both ways.

This is the most useful tool to have
