Got the new lights on

Featured Replies

Finally got round to putting the tinted rear lenses on the burner today, think they're about what I was going for (sort of the difference between mk4 8v and mk4 16v rears)

Pic halfway through:

Both done:

And to show the difference:

Changing the driver's side one was a bit of an arse, loads of stuff in the way! :-D

A very subtle change but I think it looks a lot nicer now :)

whats the actual difference all it looks like to me is that the newer ones need cleaning?

There isn't that much of a difference? The new one looks as if it has just steamed up? Will probably be more noticeable in person though.

Two coats of black tint spray on the new ones, it says not to use any more than that on the back of the can

Screw it use more......i used loads more!

The thing you need to do now is use ALOT of laquer! Thats why the newer ones look slightly dull! The laquer will bring back that shine!

Just wait till walshc posts a pic of his tinted mk4 lenses didnt look as if light could even shine through them!

New ones look good but need a few more coats and then laquer as mentioned above.

Will look good with a couple more coates and some laquer to make them uber shinny

I'm failing at spot the difference..... enlighten me :smoke:

another two coats then a shed load of laquer should have them looking about right!

Cheers for the comments guys, thought I'd quickly put them on to see if there was a difference, not major really....

Think I'll whip em off tomorrow and go round to my spray shop (i.e. parents garage :-D) for at least one more coat of tint and some laquer

yeah definatly need more and lacquer to bring back that shine! the thought was there though :D

Did the driver's side first today after how much of a pain it was yesterday

much more of a noticeable tint there now, bit more laquer i reckon then buff them up with some polish!

They had about 3 coats of lacquer, just didn't seem to be making a difference, think I'll get the autoglym on them next time I properly clean the car

yeh see what joy that brings!

I'd still get loads more laquer, like talking 10 coats! took me like a whole can before i managed to get rid of the matt look to them

they do look alot better now, just need shinyness returning now and they will be sweet mate! :-)
