Jesus! Some of you lot have no feelings? He was on an airstrip. Yes he did crash. But theres no reason to call him an "Idiot". Put it this way, if any of you lot here had the chance of owning a brand spanking new M5 @ 18 You'd say "No"?...Ballz! It was an accident. Yes maybe a silly accident but lighten up a bit someones dead! Like the old beadle

RIP JEREMY

my mate is 18 he has had two bmw 318ti compacts, one he wrote off the second he was caught speeding in yet he still speeds on day to day basis, maybe he needs too read this.

if i had the chance of having a M5 at 18 one i wouldnt drive it like a prick, 2 i probably wouldnt drive it at all id sell it to buy 1000 polo's :D .

RIP mate if only you realised how childish you were being.

Poor tree

lol...

blame the parents!

I don't think he was an idiot for doing this on an airstrip - after all, Top Gear are doing this sort of stuff on airstrips all the time. I do think he's an idiot because if you look at those youtube clips, its obvious he didn't have a fucking clue where the end of the runway was. For fucks sake, if you're going to do that sort of stunt, at the very least, get some sort of marker for the end of the runway.

trees have a habit of coming off best

tragic waste of life really

wish i had an m5 :(

Given the option of owning an M5 at 18/19? I'd take it and stick in secure storage! I mean fuck me, my GT scared me the first time I ever drove it, having never driven anything other than my 1 ltr mk3 and friends 1.1's
blame the parents!
It does beg the question, who in their right mind would let their 18 year old son drive a circa 500bhp monster?

My 1.0 Mk3 had that sort of power and my parents didn't mind.

Sad. Yes

In my opinion no one should be owning an m5 at 18. Period

And as for it being on an airstrip.. it wasn't an organised event or infact their airstrip. They snuck onto it at almost 4am.

Jesus. That's a lot of power for a car at 18.

I had a 1.8 Mondeo for a bit, 115 BHP. I thought that was fast when I had it. I'd just turned 19 and I did do some stupid speeds in it to be honest. A mate of mines worse though. He's 22, only passed about a year and half ago and crashed his cars 5+ times. He always buys stupidly powerful ones. I think his smallest engines been something like 2.4.

Thats stupid, And yes.....If i had the chance of owning one I'd turn it down. I know for a fact that after driving for only a year i am not capable of handling something like that! And that will have a lot to do with the parents....Mine would never allow me to own one af those at the age I'm at.

Some vids on youtube about the accident...

LOL

Yes its a sad thing, but what do you expect from 5 kids in a 500bhp car.

that bird with the highlights would get it hard

dont agree with you there lol

i think having an m5 at 18 is perfectly fine if you know how to drive it. however in his case he obviously didnt.

:| that was an M5 good job they tell you...wouldnt have known other wise was a MESS

as for being 18 and having 500bhp car is a wee bit silly but, a dude i know had a TVR at 18

and he drove it sensible (like a pussy ) and went on like 4 driving courses...

But then again he prob knew the value of his own life and people he has as passangers...

Doesn't take 500bhp to kill yourself...just makes it a little easier.

Airstrips are usually wide and sap the sensation of speed and alter the perception of distance. That's why on Top Gear you see them using braking boards so they can get on the brakes at the right time. Looks like he got it wrong big time and just went clean off the end of the strip.

They lived in a gated community so they were probably very well off, would explain an 18 year old driving a car like that.

that bird with the highlights would get it hard

dont agree with you there lol

she's a young rich yank, you telling me you wouldn't want to punisher her?

Well i hope mum n Dad are happy with what their intelligence has done and their fucking money

PARENTS should get the blame

most stupid 18 year old lads would drive it like a idiot just because they can

Thing is I know a few 18-19 year olds who would be able to afford to buy and insure an M5 - and that's in the UK. You can't blame the parents I don't think.

a real shame

i shit me self in my car never mind a 500bhp bmw!!!

Doesn't take 500bhp to kill yourself...just makes it a little easier.

V Fucking true !

Shame no one got to calm him down before it happened :(

I had a shit pug 306 n crashed it, that shat me up enough to make me slow down.

Personally i dont think he should have had that car i think everyone should have a shit car at some point in their life to experiance what they are like,

then i think you really appreciate what you have

Was that even a car? When they said airstrip I thought it was a plane.....Not being serious.

I've heard about how our government wants to restrict drivers who have just passed their test e.g. night driving disallowed etc, this for example would be a real pain for anyone who works evenings/nights.

My personal opinion, I think the simplest/easiest thing is for the government to simply restrict engine capacity or power e.g. Max engine capacity 1.6l until 21 years old with of course exceptions for people who drive for a living like van drivers or farmers etc.

This is because I think if people are honest with themselves who really needs more than that? A friend of mine has recently acquired a Mk4 R32 at 19, why? It's not jealousy on my part, I think my measly 1.4l is perfectly capable for British roads, when is anyone going to need to go faster 100mph?

If temptation is there, you've got a big fat 3.2l under your right foot, of course that person boot it

And to add to this, I went to school with 3 lad's who all died in what I think was a 1.4 Corsa on the way back from the Brecon Jazz Festival. But bloody hell, at least they could recognize the bodies, doubt those kids in that BM would have been able to

i think limiting the bhp on cars that people can drive after first passing would be a great idea. as said above in a powerful car the temptation is there, add that to inexperience and (in some cases) immatureness, its a recipe for disaster. some might say that insurance already restricts the size of car you can drive, but thats bullshit as most of the kids with powerful cars have had them bought by there parent, who's have probably added them to there policy.

in cases like this the parents should be held responsible for there actions, maybe it would make more of them think about what they are giving there kids.
