Well chuffed i am, came home from work yesterday, spotted a scrapy out the corner of my eye, in this tiny tiny village, and thought.........hmm.......i wonder...........!!

So i popped in, and had a look, then spotted a mk3 square on a k plate laying about on top of 2 other cars..... Had a look, it was a 1.3spi, low mileage, looked like old lady owner as had funny anti knock things on edges of doors etc,

Went a scabbed a wire brush of one of the lads from the yard, and could not believe it when the gearbox code read 8P!!!! i was well happy - been on the hunt ofr ages, and no1 seems to be able to help, now i found one for my g. So no more 4 sppeed 1.0 box fun eh, lol.

Anyway, all i wanna know is, does the 8p run the same size clutch / flywheel as a g40? I.E can i order a g40 clutch, or do i have to order a sports 1.3spi one or summit? Cheers

yeah you can use the same clutches you use with any mk3 polo gearbox. surprised you've struggled to find an 8p, they're probably the most common polo gearbox around.

well it was a right struggle. i think the hardest part is actually finding a mk3 polo in a breakers? dont seem to be any round this way, they r al mk4's!!! And when u found one, u need to get bloke on the phone to get off his arse and find the code. luckily i got one now, so all is good!!! cheers anyway for you are reply, LUK g40 clutch now ordered, cheers
