Wiring 0 gauge through polo from engine to inside

Featured Replies

For an R Reg 98 polo 6n:

As the title suggests, anyone know the best way to get 0 gauge from the battery to the inside? I've been told there should be a grommet near the clutch / gearbox but as i don't really know where these are some pics would be nice! CHeers.

Oooh sorry, 98 R reg, 6n me thinks :D

a drill some grommits and some sealant!

go!

ah right well yeah your looking just behind the gearbox theres a grommit there you cant miss it, its got a wire already running throught you just gotta make the hole a little bigger and then seal it up again a dab of silicone or something...

just below the brakes

cant say I've got a picture sorry

just noticed your other post, the gearbox is the lump of metal on the right sits lower than the engine... the clutch would basicaly be were the gearbox meets then engine, rufly if you look straight back from there you should find it. it is a big gromit as your other post says

Don't bite me but what's a gearbox look like?! And where about's is it?

Big grey lump of metal! With lumps on it lol.

Below the engine and back a bit

I shall quickly go have a look and get back to you on this! Cheers for the help so far lads!

 classic. lol

Found some sorta grommet, but it doesn't lead to anywhere inside that i can find / see when i feed the wire through? The wire keeps going but it doesn't come out no where :(

take the glove box out its what i normaly doo

makes it alot easier its only 6 screws holding that in feed it thru you will see it come thru espeicaly if its 0guage makes it really easy... should come down between some black plastics, these are the piping to the heater vents...

Hmm, took some pics will upload them in 2 secs, i was told that the wire (if I've got the right grommet) should poke out through the heater box... where is this in the polo?! pics / description! Cheers :D

Right here are a few pics, maybe that can help?!

Right, ima go to uni then i'll be back and fiddle about, cheers for help mr 97polo_16v!

no worries man ill go back to reading my book :p

lol.

Nice bit of input there scott... anyway, just got back and it seems a bit dark, did you have clear access to that grommet or was it fiddley because i'm sure the engines in the way!!! But yeah i think i'll be able to get to it 2morrow with a bit of a fiddle.

scott just knows i fitted that wire for him lol

yeah its clear access the gearbox is low so doesnt get in the way and the engines too far to the right... like i said just peirce with screw driver and push thru... tis always easier if you have the glove box out... easier to see it come thru IMO
