Right if i wanna put my sub in the spare wheel hole...... is this a good idea as i know all speakers have their correct enclosed space (some are not enclosed) but will it really effect it that much and will it sound naff with the metal ???

you would deffinatly have to dynamat the area to stop vibrations and you may need to put a false floor in to raise it up a little and then fiberglass a good few layers into the recess to make a tight enclousure

what do u mean by the recess? So are you saying i would have to make the hole almost air tight, would it do the sub hard by simply putting it into it, by this i mean having a piece of wood which he sub owuld sit on

you need to look into the sub manufactures guidlines , some work best with sealed boxes and others with ported ones . but i still think it would need to be sealed

I'll be installing my subwoofer this way when I've built the false floor, however, depending on the size on the sub, i'll be using the wheel well as a sealed enclosure, similar to this:

i agree must be 100% sealed to the correct volume or ported but again the correct volume and port area and length must be correct. sort of like this.

Has anoyone done a cool install with jsut the sub in the box then? cause i dont really wanna go sealing it all up. the box i have the sub in atm is correct for the sub, any ideas how i can make this into a cool install with a pair of QB69, two amps n a powercap.....

I had a false floor in the back of my last Polo with my sub in the spare wheel well. Used some of the audio sound deadening stuff and stuffed a pillow in there!

Sounded fine!

I saw on ebay a while back a Bose amplifier and sub that was an OEM part from Audi A3's. It sat on top of your pare wheel iirc. I was well pissed off when i forgot to bid fot it and it only went for £85!

cheers guys, n i love my 6x9's :( dnt wanna get rid of em lol........N the technical drawing of mine, well i thought that was the dogs to be hoenst took me all of 15 seconds i think :)

6x9's are ok but add a sub and they just get messy as the sub forces them to move with the sub rather than there own power

bin them fit components up front

keep the 6x9s put some sets up front plenty of power supply ,big bass box you be set. or back to the begining seal the sub in spare wheel wel.

all for the greater good not one note wonder crap.

mine drops far lower than the van i can play 20hz happily

the van is awesome but it's sealed so more peaky better off playing dance stuff than the dirty lows it's loud but it's higher tuned i like mine to move alot of air and get thing moving around it

sure putting the sub in the spare wheel will look tidy, but thats all that will be good!

stick to a box with a good cu ft'age.

if you want tight bass e.g. dance music, then sealed.

pure boneshaking lows, go for ported.

with you are 6x9s just run them on a higher frequency they wll be orite then as you are not trying to make the bass battle with eahother
