6N Polo New Wheels!!!!!

Featured Replies

Hey

I have just bought a Nice lookin albeit rather bright green 6n polo and chopped in my Mk2 Breddy, and am gonna keep mods simple and subtle clear indicators etc front grille and Wheels.. then maybe down the line lower it a bit.. not much tho maybe 40mm cos dont want to even worry about speed bumps etc etc

So.. which alloys to go for.. i want a modernish looking wheel not the old BBS style etc...

its gonna be 15" wheels with 195/45/r15 tyres and i want it to be legal ( as in not sticking out from arches and being potentially illegal in the eyes of blah blah...) i also may want to lower the car slightly as mentioned in the future with no potential problems ahead.

so what ofset is going to give me a nice stance? just reaching the edges of the arches!!!

The wheels i like are...

15" Lenso RS5 Black 4x100 et38

rs5-black-425x425.jpg

Force 10 Hyper Silver KEI 4x100 et42

I also like TSW Volcano but am unsure of ofset etc

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thoughts people!!!!

+ Do the Lenso RS5 wheels not come in a 4x100 Pcd in Krome / Gunmetal ??? Or is that just richford not having them in stock???

Lol... many posts by me..

but also what is standard offset on a 6n steels ???? will any of these wheels cause an issue by being further in?

  • Author

Oh yeh... also...

the clear front & side indicators that lots of polos on here have!

where do you buy them from and which make etc as there are loads on ebay but i dnt want to buy some awful garish "ere mate lexus lights innit" style ones!!!

also notice quite a few people receomend mk5 Rear lights for a 6N.. but by mk5 do you mean a 6n2? or what cos I'm confused,?

Bump

think they are a bit chavy mate get some 14 " borbet t's ;)

  • Author

WHAT? lol... ALL of them are a bit chavvy???

Well your Opinion i guess not my fault if its the wrong one :-p

Any other thoughts?? what will those offsets sit like???

tbh I'm swaying towards the lensos they look awesome and a few have had em on polos on this forum n they seem to look pretty good

Lensos are the best out of them mate imo..

Rest are a bit chavvy but thats just my opinion, its your car, do what you like to it :)

I'd also go for 14s/15s with a bit more dish!

Rotas for me

Yeh rotas look smart et 40 tho... are they gonna be all tucked away under arches???

can you get et 30 wheels?? I'm a bit of a noob at this to tell you the truth any help would be much appreciated?

I'm running Rota slipstreams on mine and they do tuck into the arches quite a bit, but just chuck some 10mm spacers on the rears and they should be fine

Arent there all sorts of issues with spacers though?

thats the thing i want this car to look good but without sacrificing useability or reliabillity AT ALL!!!

hmm so something like the Rotas which has a little dish and is et40 is gonna be quite tucked in? so what about those KEi racing wheels cos there et40+ something.. they gonna look gash??? or are they gonna touch suspension bits n bobs?

just get a proper hubcentric spacer kit with all bolts and ul be fine 8-)

One more Question!!!

Lowering!!! i want it slightly lower maybe 40mm cos i dnt wanna worry about speed bmps etc as this is gonna be a daily car for me

so as i understand it Springs & Shock kits are gonna be less trouble than coilovers, I've seen the Philj Kits that are all over these forum but am tempted to go for something by Koni / Bilstein etc..

http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/pro...=suspensionkits

Dunno what this place is like!! but sell a variety of well known branded kits, whats the best most long term reliable, and by best i mean reliable and 40mm lower.. cos it isnt gonna be round a track or nething.

why would coilovers be more trouble mate? As even with springs and shocks the whole unit has to come out, if anything the coilies are easier because you wont need a spring compressor and you can actually adjust the camber which most spring shock set ups on the 6n you can't.

If your looking for dish they aren't the way, just because they aren't the 17in versions doesn't mean they aren't chavved to da max!

And 40mm woun't make much difference, if your looking for stance atleast go 60mm, speed bumps aren't a problem, even big ones, as long as you don't boi race over them!

i dnt mean more trouble fitting!

What i mean is... the standard springs & shocks on my 1986 POLO.. yes 1986 have been there since the day it was made and are still fine... and I'm reading stories of people saying after 1 year having spent 200 quid or watever it is on a cheap coil kit.. There fucked!!!

Now,.. i dont want cheap.. i want something thats gonna last and is good quality if i got to pay 400 quid for a spring and shock set then so be it!

as for wheels i never said i wanted massive dish lol... i jst like those wheels and wonderign what there gonna look like!

I love the slammed look on some of the polos on here they look wicked but the ammount of potholes where i live just dnt wanna sacrifice having a 100 % useable car for having it lowered crazy ammount lol

Anyone know the offset of standard 6n steel wheels?

there 13" by 5" arent they? is it et 38????

if it was me i would look for a second hand set of rims on ebay or forums. A nice set of borbet, ronal, bbs would look 10 times better than any of those lenzo halfords crap.

Oh and clear indicators can be bought for about £8 a side from GSF car parts. But you need amber bulbs on top of that.

  • Author

Cheers for that, i had seen the indicators on GSf ill bet they look nicer than the luvely crystal lexus jobbies!!!

could i surely not use the bulbs that are already there? or different fit?

+

Thanx for ure opinion on wheels too

current bulbs will be clear, you'll need ones that flash orange - unless the lights themselves have a coloured filter inside them

  • Author

Got you

cheers for that

AMD man is right the standard ones are clear you need amber flashing ones as the indys are now clear...

i bought some of these off ebay for £2 delivered...
