i took my badges off with ease in a matter of minutes, and so decided to take off the bump strips, also with ease!!

then removd all of the glue which took time and alot of scrubbing

HOWEVER! the part in between the two lines of glue, the paintwork seems to be of a lighter shade, any of you had this???

BTW my cars silver if that helps

Yeah, shows how much shit the rest of your paint has! Polish the car (particularily the doors) loads and before you know it they should be the same!

car hasnt been reysprayed, appears to be of a primer colour, its only a thin strip where the glue didnt touch the surface, if it was resprayed this wld be seem in other areas, under stuff like the badges

paint work in general is in good condition, i tryd abit of T-CUT and didnt make much of a diff, how much polish u reckon thn????

Ah maybe not then, thought it just seemed lighter cause its obviously untouched by light/dirt etc within reason. might be where the glue has lifted some of the paint off? if you could get a photo up that might help people a bit better.

Have you owned the car front new, as I'm sure supercharged.. meant it may not have totally had a respray, but if someone kicked a door in or something, a previous owner may have bought a 2nd hand door and had it badly resprayed etc...

i think my polo has done the same where i have took the polo lettering off the back. it says polo in a lighter red.. only thing me and the bodyshop guy could come up with it that the car was buffered after those parts were put on... and id forgot about my fade till you reminded me.. il try and get pics up of my fade see if its similar

i dont know if it was just my car but when i took mine off the paint work below where the bumper strips were is alot rougher,maybe its suppose to 2 prevent stone chips? not to sure?

I think in this months Performance VW one of the staff cars covers this problem. Was it a Mk4 polo estate?

It's defo just be because the area is covered up. You will need to go round the car with a machine polisher probably

I believe its beacuse water has been trapped between the paintwork and the rubber door stips over the years. its just faded the paintwork mine was the same, just get the polish out!!! and lots of it!!!

cheers m8, looks like i have a very busy nite and alot of wrist action to look forward to

so have any of you guys seen this, pics now up so hav a look, i dnt think its coming off tbh, i used tcut and polish and also used some wet and dry so i doubt i can get it off

Looks like its through to the primer, and the marks in the 1st pics look like the affects of using a 'caramel' wheel (used in bodyshops for glue removal).

Possibly a previous owner has removed the mouldings and made an arse of removing the double sided tape then put them back on to cover it up

If it looks like that it prob needs painted, hard to tell from a photo though.

Take it to a local bodyshop and see what they say before you waste time, money and effort.

its not glur or nuffin, its flatt n smooth to the paint work, I've tryd polish, tcut, tar remover, petrol on a rag, n all sorts of shit, i looks like primer if you ask me, i shall take it body shop but i no they gonna say it needs a paint, its well f*****g gay n I'm really pissd off, thts an expense i wasnt expecting, takes the piss dont it james!!!!

i got all the glue off with tar remover dom, this is inbetween the two strips of glue where this shit has happend

I got the same problem, it appeared to jus take the top coat of laquer off, looks really shite, wish i'd have left em on.

If you rub your hand over it you can can feel a dip on the paint surface.

Might get a polising wheel to blend it in with the surrounding area.

i shall get caramel wheel and giv it a blast, but I'm gettin new front a rear bumpers which shall have to go to the body shop for painting so may just get them to flash over themarks neways

for a silver car most bodyshops will quote to paint the full sides

It's not the easiest colour to match
