My GT Hearse

Featured Replies

Got this car just after new year as an upgrade from my old coupe (sold to scott_gt)...

Got it for a price that reflected the condition of the motor, basically it looked uncared for, exhaust was hanging, both seats didn't tip forward, boot lock didnt work etc

got new seats and fixed the lock... gave it a damn good t-cut and it came up quite well, minimal rust on her really, all it was on the back was just a rust stains from stonechips on the boot panel:

Engine: 1.3 Polo GT, Stainless Steel 4-branch manifold, G40 backbox with hidden tailpipe, decat, k+n panel filter, 8k poloace chip

Suspension: Standard

Brakes: Standard

Wheels and Tyres: Standard (gonna get mk2 coupe Hockenheims soon)

Exterior Styling: Headlamp Protectors, Clear front indicators, aerial removed and replaced with a bung, hella spotlamp grille and votex spotlamp grille

Interior Styling: Mint genesis interior, VW floor mats, seatbelt guides and a magic tree

ICE and Security: Factory alarm, MB Quart front speakers, jbl 6x4's in standard location for rear speakers, Vibe 10" active sub and Kenwood MP3 head unit

Comments: aim is to get the car looking standard, but using cool parts like the headlamp protectors, foglamps, rear arch trims etc (which are pretty rare items for mk3's!), there is a dent on the back that we're gonna pop out and either get a new bootlid or repaint/repair the existing one as it is chipped and leaks etc...

When I got her:

After a good clean and polish etc:

i got them from the groupbuy on here, £40... irony of it all is that headlights are a lot cheaper than that second hand! i think they look cool though, my first polo was a 1l white square and it had cc'd bumpers, looked really good i thought! might have to get onto it in the summer :)

I sent my cheque off for them but haven't heard anything back :? Hope it hasnt got lost

I would love a Squareback GT :D

Looks great!

have a look on the groupbuy to see if you are name is bold etc, or pm Richard, he is a sound guy :)

Uh oh, I think he might has missinterperated my email :? its got up there my car has been "bashed"

oh this is confusing!

bashed?! what the hell lol

yes mate nice car white squares are the way forward not that I'm biased or anything  :-D

make sure you get some pics when you get them arch trims on!

Looks great, a good find once a little work is done! How did you manage to get rid of the rust on your tailgate?

basically the rust consisted of a few stonechips + water and all it was is just stains caused by the rust, i just went over it with t-cut and the stains disappeared and i chipped the little bit of surface rust off with a key and t-cutted over it and it was fine. need a new tailgate tho as it has gone rotten but basically t-cut is your friend for the rust job!

Quick update 21/2/08

Got my 8k limite Poloace chip today from JregGT (aka Rich) top bloke... chip makes a real good difference!

Fitted my votex spotlamp grille along with foglamps last weeekend, makes the front end look pretty neat i think!

next on the to do list is to tint the rear lights all red and order my rear arch trims as the front arch trims are on now!

sealed the tailgate as it's been leaking- looks gash i know but it's dry in the bot now! sprayed Gt part of badge red and took the broken wiper off.

enjoy!

Its jus bein gay. still dunno what am gonna do with it.

my P's are not too bad on the square, bit of scrubbin when 3-up, standard ride height, but i have baloon tyres (185//60/14 on rear)

yeh am interested in what they'll look like as the front arche trims look quite good.

Another Update 3.3.08

sadly my sisters mint condish 1993 genesis square got written off the other week when some polish dude decided to use my sisters bumper to stop his car at about 30mph so I have been helping myself to a few bits for my square... pics to follow!

Black door cards

Black parcel shelf

Headlamps (which i have tinted)

Seatbelt guides

Steering wheel (same as mine but a lot better condition)

Toolbox cover in with mint condition stickers on

Matt black fillercap

Hopefully before her car is ready for the scrappers i'll have the black carpets from it to wack into mine at a later date, , also got her front bumper to have a play around with over the summer, homebrewed half coded bumper with golf mk2 repeaters may be on the cards ;)

had a few ebay bargains too...

set of rubber mk3 mats for £6

mk1 golf gti golfball gearknob 99p

Set of triple airhorns for £5.50 (gotta see if they work first though)!

philps blue vision sidelight bulbs £2.50

I have bought and fitted a set of mk3 squareback rear arch trims, only seen one set of these on a picture of a square somewhere on the internet... I think i'll re-fit them over the summer with tigerseal just for peace of mind as they pimp hard so they gotta be fitted right! fitted sill trims from a mk3 coupe gt also.

I removed the dim feature from the headlight loom too...

That's about it so far, i plan to get busy with the t-cut over the weekend so expect some more pics very soon!

how much for the parcel shelf and how did you get a black filler cap mate? did you spray it yourself?

  • Author

parcel shelf was free from my sisters' written off polo ;)

matt blacked the filler cap...

dude, them fogs, (bumper ones) they oem ones?

how much u pay? second hand?

  • Author

yeah man they're oem ones...

i got them for a lot cheaper than the dealers prices, £70 per unit they are at the dealers ;)

pwoah...think al pass haha....look good matey

  • Author

me and my mate who also had a mk3 were jus leavin the scrappers there and came across this... i immediately asked the owner how much for the fogs, he replied with 'yours for £15'. i was like fucking have it! went back next day for bumper with pre-cut holes but the whole car had gone. managed to salvage most of the loom too :)

you can go off people uno.....hahaha

lucky sod

couple of pictures again...

the bootlid was pissing me right off, seeing the rust stains come back etc so i decided while i wait for a new white bootlid i'll just satin black the existing one...

future plans include:

get a new bootlid

fit a set of gauges

get some 13" hockenheims

get a 4 branch...

Grill looks amazing dude . getting mine fitted tomorrow hopefully :D

The boot actually looks rather cool tbh.

  • Author

cheers mate, the grille is as easy as the standard grille to fit apart from just connecting the wires to the headlamp which is also a piece of piss!

also found out the other day when i parked up to a standard mk3 breadvan that mine sat a decent bit lower than the other car... i know that my suspension is standard so it could be a case of it being worn/needing to be replaced- will find out at the mot next month!!
