Another photoless update:

Got my MOT done today, was dreading it to be honest as to me it's an unknown car and didn't know what to expect.

All it needed was a CV boot fitting, got the garage to do all the hard work as i need the car for the weekend and i work 9-5 at the moment!

got a set of VDO gauges to fit also, they look proper oem cool so just gotta get the wiring and senders sorted:)

got a vibe active sub from poyzon on here for £35, bargain! selling my old one very soon hopefully

fitted a MINT genesis interior and black carpet to match the black headlining last week also, the interior is a lot better than the exterior!!

also getting a set of hockenheims's to give a sand down and spray up as the car needs extra width from the 4.5j ditchfinders!

cheers buddy! i fitted my 4 branch last night, it's a really good mod, really brightens up the revs!

yeah i looked at that post after this one! think that could be a future mod for me. but will have to wait a while as i have put my g40 in storage while i am away in ireland for a year. give me time to save up and generate new plans too i guess. keep this post updated, will be good to see what else you get up to.

nice one, definitely keep hold of your G matey.

I have a set of 13" Hockenheim's from a coupe s lined up too for when i go back to uni next month!

Been a while since i took a few pics of the car, been home from uni for the summer and made a few changes to the car...

Had a couple of oxford meets now and that encouraged me to give the car a clean at least once a month now, even if it is just the front end!

Fitted mint condittion genesis interior, 4 branch stainless manifold, G40 backbox with hidden tailpipe, a funny kingsbridge sticker i found around the house.

Tonight i removed the spotlamp grille and put that into hibernation for a bit and put the original grille on with a stealthy black GT badge, fitted a set of philips blue vision bulbs to compliment my blue vision sidelights and popped the standard headlights and orange indies on with headlight protectors of course.

Refurbed Hockenheims to go on at the end of the month!

Enjoy...

nice motor. same age as my mk3 GT square but mine is Red.

Where did you get that manifold is it the raceland one? and what is it joined to. do you notice much power with chip and manifold?

cheers matey.

the manifold is a ta-technix manifold, it's what philj sells in his seciton on the forum, i got it 2nd hand from a member on here.

it's mated to the standard GT centre section with a standard polo G40 backbox with hidden tailpipe. with the chip and 4branch + decat it's so much fun but get a freer flowing backbox i.e. g40 spec and you're laughing!

Another brief update...

had a spare rocker cover from my sisters car that got written off so thought at first i'd sand it down and spray it up black or red.

couldn't get a good finish with the paint so i thought bugger it, i'll bare metal it.

stripping the top coat of red + primer underneath-

DSC09759.jpg

DSC09760.jpg

Starting to get it back to metal again and remove any pitting etc-

DSC09767.jpg

DSC09768.jpg

After sanding and wetting and drying dad said he had a 'rotary sanding tool' aka a fake dremel so had a go with that...

DSC09769.jpg

Fitted to the car-

DSC09771.jpg

It's not perfect, needs another hour i reckon but atm i'm happy. it'l probably rust soon enough so i'll get smoothing again and maybe get some lacquer on it?

Fitted my AFRM gauge also- (thanks DKnight)

it was for the factory fitted alarm, i haven't got the fob for the alarm so just wired it so it's lit up when the ignition is off.

thanks for the positive comments!

martin

Looking schweeeet bud. Still think you need to lower it. Gotta put my hella grill back on too.

Cheers buddy! i'd love to lower it but atm it isn't too practical really. When i've finished uni and haven't gotta cart all my stuff around and mates around i will consider it!

i am dead keen on a mk1 goof. i'd love a mk1 golf with a 3F GT engine in it actually, would be lovely!

ahh right! well i dont have a fob either and it flashes when the ignition is off so it sounds like someone has done the same thing as you lol

Looking sweet dude, you got the air/fuel meter all wired in? Might have to have a gander at that!

Cars progressing quite well! Rocker cover makes a big difference!

Can I ask where you got your avatar? If the car was red it would be perfect for my old car! Even the same alloys!
