you only do it once

Featured Replies

I once put a glass in the bin instead of the washing up bowl...

I also once spent ages figuring out how to use the crappy widowmaker jack, finally got the car up after ages of huffing and puffing only to realise i forgot to loosen the wheel bolts....

Also once "popped the hood" in a car park to check something after a long drive (can't remember what though), got distracted by a mate, then on the way home i was doing 70 and noticed the bonnet was flapping a bit more than it should.......never stopped so quick in my life!!

Well...until i hit that peugeot

I drove off without my headlights on once. Didn't realise for a few minutes after I'd gone round a busy roundabout.

Left my passenger door unlocked a couple of times.

Locked my keys in the car - luckily I've got a spare.

Put my new back wheels on the wrong way round. Didn't notice the tyre marks until I let the jack down with them both on.

My mate didn't shut my boot properly when I got those wheels. I was on the M25 and A1 for a while before I pulled in at a service station and noticed. Really lucky it didn't fly open.

Left my headlights on just after I got the car. Got too used to Fiats letting you be lazy. They turn off when the keys out the ignition. My Polo doesn't even buzz at me.

My warning buzzer doesn't work :(

When i owned a tomcat

As per usual filling it up with water

I forgot to put the cap back on

BYE BYE HEAD!!

Oh yeah, and when I had my 205 1.9D I once left the lights on all day and drained the battery. Was working late, too, and the only people left in the office when I went to go home were the CEO and his (female) secretary - who both came out and gave me a push!

the usual, not hadlights on and wondering why people were flashing me and waving at me, i do that all the time, was polishing the car yesterday, left the polish on top the roof with the cap off and after thinking, yes splendid job, went into reverse and the bottle knocked over and polish ran all down my windscreen.

then today tried booking the doctors for my bf and was actually ringing the kebab shop, at half 8 in the morning, kebab man was not to impressed "i am not a doctor, go away"

I've locked my only set of keys in the car before... and yes, the engine was still running

How the fuck did you manage that?

When i park up to speak to someone, always forget to put it in neutral before letting clutch out lol.

Chased my 'mate' round town, same car, same colour, same reg apart from one or 2 numbers..they pulled over, scared I was some mad guy trying to kill them and found out it wasn't my mate after all

  • 1 month later...

Mine has to be in cold-ish weather when I was spraying with rattle cans...

Hmm, put the can against the exhaust on the mini, as the manifold was warm from when i drove it that morning. Shut the bonnet to keep the warm in..

Neighbour comes out later, needs a lift down B&Q for some charcoal.. I jump in my mini, we get half way there and I thought SHIIITTTT...... stopped, opened the bonnet, to realise the FULL spray can was still jammed (oops!) in the 3 branch exhaust manifold! Hmm... pulled it out, chukced it into the back of the mini and carried on driving

left the locking wheel nut key on the wheel nut and drove off, 3 times now!

i shit myself after i did this, luckily is came off on the drive. another favorite of mine is leaving the sidelights on, or leaving extension bars in the engine bay.

CLONK....WTF

Last summer me n my mates decided to go on a roadtrip round france and germany so got the car ready, fully serviced, brakes oil etc.. drove round france and germany for a couple of weeks stopping over at various places including the nurburgring nordschleife, a few weeks after i got back my dad asked me when my MOT was Due and as per usual i didnt have a clue, so i went and checked and it had expired 3 months before hand!!! i was totally uninsured the whole time i was away, Thank god the polizei didnt stop me!!! id have been some big germans jail bait lol

Wheel not tightened properly

Ha ha. I once changed a wheel for a little old lady at a boot sale. Had a couple of grandchildren with her. Wasn't till I was back browsing I realised I hadn't tightened off the nuts after lowering her car. I ran like a dog and just caught her pulling out of the car park. Ulp. :paranoid:

My mate managed to smash the widescreen on his works sprinter by leening a large pole against it, when he slammed the brakes on whilst delivering it, it shot through the window lol.

Also when i first got my mk1 Golf, i drove it really fast up to a roundabout not thinking the brakes would be any different to my mk4 Polo and ended up shooting accross nearly hiting another car

Not relle for a car... but coming up to traffic lights on my bike and forgetting to put your foot out is pretty fucking stupid

LOL!!

I left an entire crate of stella on the roof of mine an drove off an when it came off it smashed exactly half the crate! god was teaching me a lesson but at least left me with 12 beers!

Did that with my old phone off the roof of my truck. Luckily it was a bombproof ericsson T20.

Then I forgot to flick the manual switch for the fan before I stopped (kit cars, gotta love the dodgy wiring), so while I was picking my phone up, the truck overheated and the head gasket let go.

Didn't shut my boot properly and flew open at 70mph on a duel carrageway and all my shit fell out on the road!

Erm, that's happened to me.

On my driving test

Actually, it was my instructor's fault as he was the last one to open the boot (did the test in his car). Just got going onto the dual carriageway a few minutes in and the boot opened at about 60! Luckily nowt fell out, and I still passed!

Trying to fit my current rims I put one of the rears on first and it went on. Was a bit dark and didn't notice the rims wasn't actually flush on the hub. Carried on with a front rim and noticed it wouldn't budge. As I thought the back went on I thought maybe I couldn't get it to sit properly and thats all. Thought i'd put the old rim back on so put the new ones in the boot. Mates helping tightened the nuts and we were off driving. Only made it around the corner and 2 streets before my mate in his car driving behind noticed the rear I changed was wobbling. Only then realised it didn't actually sit flush so had to take that off too.

Thought my luck couldn't get any worse with these dodgy rims I bought off another CP member who I trusted on measurements. BUT my mate only forgot to take the locking nut off a bolt didn't he :x

So in the dark, no locking nut with a stranded car we went back on ourselves in the dark and found nothing, not even where we changed the rims. 20mins later my mate walked in the opposite direction where we had taken the corner to find it sitting under a car 5 yards away from a drain. Now how lucky were we?

The rims CB was 56mm not 57.1  but luckily the seller was glad to refund the £££ necessary to get the rims drilled out. very happy 6months mater when I finally managed to get the rims on the car!

How the fuck did you manage that?

working under the bonet, accessed the car through the passenger side, flicked the ignition so the engine was running, did what i had to, and wanted to go out... dropped the bonet down, tools away, locked the passenger door, and tried to get in the drivers side... oh bollocks haha  lesson learned... a lesson about how to get your keys back, and your windows in tact :ninja:

^^ similar to that I have started carrying my keys on me when the cars switched off and i'm around it cos the alarm arms itself shutting every door. won't wanna leave the keys on the seats and being locked out now would I!

went to rhyl for the day, parked on a pretty grim road, but my big disklock on, made sure i had stereo, mp3 etc, locked the boot

came back from the beach (yuck!!) 4 hours later to find i forgot to lock my door

also

i was fettling under the engine bay, took the airfilter housing off (mk3 1.0 pancake)

putting it back on i put tissue into the carb to make sure no nuts get dropped in there

put everything back on, start the engine, very bad idle

try to get off my drive, not a chance stalling all over

call my dad round, takes off the top of the filter housijng. calls me a complete dickhead

wont do that again!

went to rhyl for the day...

I did that once, never again :paranoid:

Just leavin supermarket car park at night, just pulled out of parking space and some bloke steps in front of the car starts franticly motioning and making square shapes with his hands, mate thought he was swearin at him so rolled down the window and shouts abuse back at him as i pull away... only to reaise 30secs later that the poor bloke was only tryin to tell me id left my lights off... felt quite bad after that!
