A few pics of the car, nearly done now

Featured Replies

I took the car off the road last august, intending to drop a GT engine in the car and change the suspension, with possibly some new wheels too. I've ended up pretty much rebuilding the whole car, with lots and lost of new bits... I might make a thread in the members section and list it all in there. We finally put it all back together a week ago, and i decided to change the sump gasket as the engine had a big oil leak. Turned out the headgasket had gone, after all that work!!! So I'm about to go out and rebuild the head in the sunshine, then it will be painted and refitted this week.

It does have a few patches of rust that needs sorting - a couple on the sill need some attention and the wing could do with replacing, but I'm waiting for a mint original wing to go on, unless i can get a fair quote from a recommended bodyshop. The drivers door acquired a long dent at some point, though i wasn't responsible for it. I've had a few sets of wheels for it, but nothing has really taken my fancy in a big way. I'm currently on the hunt for set no.6, but for now i'll make do with GT steels and hubcaps. I'd hoped to get a bargain set of PLS Hockenheims yesterday, but i discovered they were ford fitment so that went out of the window! It does need to go a hell of a lot lower, but i think it sits okay for the time being: 55mm at front, and 40 rear. It hasn't settled yet though, so still looks standard height!

To be honest, i shouldnt have bought the car. The paintwork was like sandpaper when i got it, the engine ran on 3 cylinders due to a shoddy HG change by the previous owner, the front shockers had leaked all the fluid and the brakes were worn away. The exhaust had rusted into nothing, it has a few patches of rust, and it has a glass sunroof (tho i prefer these. I'm quite pleased with how the paint has turned out, though i am by no means finished with it. It hasnt been polished since well before christmas - i intend to get all the panels to the same finish as I've achieved with the boot. I think it was the oem electric window kit which persuaded me to get it! Either way, its a decent base for a project, and I've got plenty of plans once its all up and running. Hoping to drop it 70/60 on HnR items with top caps, with some sexy 13x7/8 wheels and possibly funky colour schemes too, we shall see. Anyways enough of the boring bit, here it is. I know it doesnt look anything special yet, but here it is all the same.
