This was owned by a guy called Roger, saw it down Santa Pod several times - was really really well looked after, his pride and joy. He sold it a few months back though, so presumably that buyer was the guy that took G40 HAH off the car.

yeah thats right Andy. It's obvious the car has been really looked after. I've told the guy who i bought it off to get his ass on this forum, he has an awesome G tucked away.

Just a small update....

Since the back wiper motor was goofed i decided to just take off the whole unit. Got a pack of bungs from Halfords for £1.49, delighted...

Got a few things through from GSF, including my gasket in preperation for my GT inlet coming back from the powdercoaters next week. Also got some new plugs and a dizzy cap. Changed the rotor arm already and got the stuff to do an oil change also

Looks very clean and tidy. Not using W5 DPO spark plugs ?

i had the DTC ones in my previous engine, and they are in this one just now, never had a problem with them! And at like £7 less per plug they seemed tempting, lol. I may get the DPO's in when i do my next service tho!

Can't wait to check it out in the flesh at the meet on the 9th March mate ;)

Come on man.... W5DPO's FTW

ahhhhh mmmmm errr scratches head??? on such a nice G40 i hope the plugs work ok for you. if youve always used a g40 without w5dpo's you may feel the benefit of them when you eventually put some in. personally i prefer the late spec dizzy caps with the black cover which are dealer only i believe, has yours still got the zinc coated metal cover? just personal preference though nothing more

nice to see its getting some love straight away though. whats the cg lock thing?

Edited by supercharged spaniel

just done a bit research on that cg lock. sounds interesting. never heard of them? they any good? The principle sounds pretty straight forward.

Looks a very good purchase that and grey G40's are my favs :)

Fair play for trying out some new plugs. The DTC's are copper and were mk2 G40 spec. With the advancement of alloy technology, these Yttrium or even Iridium plugs may be just as good as the platinum OE DPO's.

agreed grey is my favouite colour. i had a grey mk3 coupe. hard as nails....

Dan, i still have my zinc dizzy cover which i'll clean up, hense the budget red dizzy. The CG-Lock basically acts like an aircraft belt, allowing you to tighten the lapbelt as tight as you want, so your hips don't move around in the seat. Keeps you almost as stable as a harness, and looks pretty OE. I'm gonna give these plugs a bash, if i don't like them, ill just get some DPO's!

Got my stuff back from the local powdercoaters, pretty chuffed with it! Got a GT Inlet done, the 2 hangers for the engine, a throttle cable mount and the big front left engine mount. They look great on also :)

Will get some pics of the bits on the car tomorrow :)

looks sweet, i love the boot install, Can you get some more pics of that up mate, looking to do somthing like that so i still have a boot left.

Also your center exit, is the spare wheel well been taken off?

looking good!! i got my engine mounts done about two month ago.... soooo much better than hamerite or paint.

keep us updated!!

i cant quite tell from the pic, but if you forgot to take the sliding adjuster off the mount for the pivot on the charger youll need to bash it out to get it moving again if its got powder on it.. no biggy really.

yeah, the alternator pivot can be an arse too. make sure you get the paint off and not wimp out n file the spacer on the alternator. it will cause more problems than you would think a loose alternator.

finally got the car running properly again...

Stupid me had forgotten to bung up some vacuum hoses when i took the boost return pipes off...

Once i'd fixed the problem i went for a drive, then came back and washed the car. Also treated it to some new Poorboys Nattys Blue thanks to Polished Bliss. Really happy with the result, much glossier finish than the megs 3 step i was using before, and as a bonus it smells SO good!

Ordered a new chip from G-Werks and some G60 injectors which should be here next week. Will make the most of the mods done and should see ~150bhp :)

Heres some pics i took a minute ago...
