jsut went to my car this afternoon after week and i've got a big f**k of clamp attached to my wheel and a sign saying no tax blah blah blah, this sign was next to my tax disc which runs out in august 08.

However i have recently come back from overseas where i have been away for a year, it appears that i didnt declare my car of road and therefore this has happened. I cant phone them until tmr when they open.

Does anyone knowwhat will happen to my car i.e. crushed??? will i get fined??? is there anything i can do or say to resolve this situation with the least cost or resulting in my car being a piece of metal a foot sqaure???

I don't understand - you say you didn't declare it off the road, but have a tax disk valid until August this year? I.e. it is fully taxed for another 6 months?

Seems like a problem with the tax people in that case, worth a call to find out whats up

you don't have to declare it off road if it's till taxed and you should get the buggers to come and remove it,photograph the boot on the car and the tax disc in the window with the reg of the car visible if possible......the dvla computers do make errors but as your car is taxed their problem not yours.......

get a 9" grinder and cut the thing off and send em it in the post with bill for electric used for cutting it off

Have your car sitting so low that they cant fit a clamp on it!!!

my mate was irish and had a land rover and there was no way you could clamp his car the tires were to big so u would have to use the ones with chains but he had a 2" lift so wouldn't of affected him !!

this story doesnt make sense, they dont clamp your car and leave it, the clap is on a maximum of about an hour before a truck comes and takes it away to a storage depot

lol you get a foot pump, let down your tyre, take off the clamp and pump up your wheel then you hand tyhe clamp into the police lost and found and they can't do anything, if you damage the clamp its classed as vandalism

done this three times before i lowered my car, now its lowered with the arches last time i came back and they were stood there looking at it scrathing their heads and asked if it was mine, so i said yeh and he replied with, hahaha well its a good way not to get clamped :)

There was a simlar story I read somewere to this post were a guy had his car clamped and it was the type with the padlock on it and basically he cut the padlock off and put the clamp in his boot and taken it to the police and clamed it as lost property and got a cash reward for doing so.
