Hey guys this is my first post ! :-D

Today i finished fitting my central locking kit and Alarm from Hawk.

The kit was dead dead easy to understand and had most of the kit installed within hours.

I got it all to work bar remote start and remote central locking i phoned hawk and he told

me how to wire it to my central locking module and also sent me a guide for the

remote start.

I would definatly recomend them to anybosy that asks.

If anybody is thinking about getting or fitting a kit from them don't hesitate to PM me and i will do a simple wire guide for the 6N

it is very good alarm m8 and you can change the setting on all the sensors so its dead sensetive the alarm chrips really good and loud.

hawk also have really good customer service and they can help all the time. i thought it sounded to good to be true to but you never know if you dont try sooo go 4 it m8

I have the Hawk Central Locking kit fitted to my car, and I must say I am very pleased with it! Was thinking about getting the Hawk Car Alarm next!! :-D

has anyone got the pager alarm they sell? if sdo what do you make of it

just dropping by to say i recieved mine from ebay this morning. box was battered an looks like it was a return product :/ supposed to be new....

contact them via ebay then, and ask why. the kit i got seemed good, but jut didnt want to work properly so i sent it back on friday so should be getting replacement sender / reciver and will try again. Alarm might be next.

Pretty sure it has to be installed professionally to be considered cat1. Since an alarm system is only as good as the guy who installed it really.

what safe guards does it have to prevent it from starting in gear??

as for getting it fitted by a proffesional, its a joke, you could sign it joe bloggs alarm company and put down a boggo address and no insurance company would question it! as an alarm fitter i have NEVER known an insurance company check a certificates legitimacy!

cat 1 status is granted by thatcham, it simply means that an alarm if fitted correctly will provide a given level of protection, it has nothing to do with the alarm after its been released from the factory (the manufacturers asume that all alarms will be fitted by the trained fitters that they have trained, hence the cat 1 alarms being sold on ebay are a bad omen for car security

the remote start alarm isnt listed as being cat1, the cat1 listed alarm looks to be much the same spec as any other bottom of the range cat1 alarm. personally I'm of the opinion, that the installer being good at their job, is more important that the product with regards to reliablity, lets face it, electronics are generally pretty reliable.

in what way are they 'lying' about their spec? i'd be interested to know! as I've just ordered one of the non-cat1 alarms they sell, as i didnt feel it was worth spending £400 on a cat1 alarm when my gt only cost me £20 in the first place.

Alarms made by a reputable company like Clifford use modular components on their

alarms system.Basicaly you can buy the base model alarm and add things like Intellistart

Proximity sensors etc as you need them.As a result if the Intellistart unit packs in,to fix it

it's just a case of plugging in a new one.These cheaper alarm systems have everything

built into the one box and if something goes wrong....you may as-well through it in the bin

and get back on E-bay and buy another.

It could go wrong about 8 times before its would have been worth buying a clifford at those prices!

^^ very true and if the product is installed correctly the alarm is unlikely to fail anyway. the rule of thumb is that if a product will fail, it will do sure either right at the start of its product life (due to being manufactured incorrectly) or at the end of its product life, which should be a good long while! obviously you will get a few examples that dont fit the rule, but that is purely down to statistics.

As buster said though, the biggest drawback is that the cheaper alarms are unitary, rather than modular, but to be honest i dont think most people are interested in adding things on, they simple want a product that has all of the stuff on and works.
