A vento TDI can be had pretty cheap these days. (make sure its the TDI (90hp) and not the TD (75hp)) There's also the option of the early audi A4. Although they mostly have intergalatic mileages on them now.

The VRS comes at a premium. You can get the same engine in the ibiza or cordoba for less money. (although the build quality of the SEAT's isn't as good)

Did the mk2 GTD's only come in a 5door?

You can get 3 door GTDs, but they aren't very common. In fact, they may never have been released in the UK. I have seen a Polish registered 3 door GTD locally.

Doesn't work so well in this weather, as the oil loses viscosity and you can end up with fuel lines full of vitalite if you don't go about things the right way.

Even when its cold you can use 50-50! diesel/veg oil!

by the time I have gotn one should be warm enough for 50/50 deisel/veg oil :)

got a cash and carry card aswell :p

and I've decided if I can find one, I'm gonna go for a gtd. The others sound good I just don't want a big car.
