got a few questions about them if anybody knows much

what are they like to fuel up, as in how much to a tenner? i do mainly motorway driving atm, but i am a student sooo cant be getting too stupid mpg

how much are they to tax?

how relible are they and what is there to watch out for?

wheres a good place to look out for one for sale? theres only a couple of ebay n pistonheads and couldnt find any on the trader :(

also what are the performance figures? would it be worth the extra 500 on insurance for a mk3 golf vr6

also any pics would be good, they can look sick lol

VR6 and Student in the same post! Take it from someone who runs a VR5 and is not student, DON'T do it. Thursty as hell. The 5's giving me 28MPG at best at that's doing 60 on the motorway = boring!

18-35 ish mpg is a regular occurance with VR's.

I was looking at them at one point, they have the normaly V6 economy, ie really crap round town. Motorways, they're alright.

Vento's don't seem to suffer from the scene tax that the Golf VR6 does, although if it's just a VR6 you want, go find a Passat. More useful and generally cheaper.

I love Vento's. I dare say i'd have one over a Mk3 Golf, just something different.

PVW Sep 08 had 2 in there, one in sage green with a Golf front end, 2.0 carb'd, and a stripped and caged red one with a TB'ed R32 lump. oh yes.

Being a student it sounds like a bad idea, stick with the GT or go for something that isn't so much of a jump.

A bloke I work with has one. It's rather strange getting a dead of night finish off a job and seeing a people carrier keeping up with me down the sliproad onto the motorway.

vr6's do about 20mpg on average. a lad i know has one it was at nwvag meet it green with 9 by 16 borbets.

I sold a VR6 Corrado to buy my G40 and although it's not a Vento,i wouldn't go back to one.

I do miss the luxury but i don't miss filling the tank twice a week.....

how much are they to tax? 2.9 VR6 = SORE!

how relible are they and what is there to watch out for? Ubber reliable but bloody expensive to fix.£300 for 2 power steering

hoses (VAG only) when it failed it's MOT.Rear brake calipers cease up....regularly.

wheres a good place to look out for one for sale? All the usual forums,Autotrader and....E-Bay.

Thats just my opinion mate but if you want one....go for it.

But i can imagine town driving it just plummets

But you dont go out and buy a car like a VR6 and worry about fuel economy!!! Because everytime you no doubt get into it, you'll just want to hear that note

yeah thats right...mate's vento VR gets me all the time with the induction noise, amazing sound....

cheers for the replies, still pretty tempted. when my mum moves to portsmouth the only journeys id really be doing is manc to preston to see mates and the missus and manc to portsmouth so i reckon i could get ok mpg

But vr6's are not reliable! well my mates mk3 vr6 highline isnt and that is in mint condition. Anything that goes wrong is exp!

Don't worry about it I moved out of Kent up here to just North of Aberdeen nearly 2 years ago and still have a language barrier

get a quote off bell/admiral they're cheap on proper cars for me!

i think I'm gonna get saving and just buy one then worry about fuel etc afterwards, still got a good few months untill the insurance on my GT runs out anyway. i wish i was rich
