2.8 OBD2 VR6 engine

Featured Replies

Got a 2.8 OBD2 engine from a 98 mk3 VR with only 48k on it

Bought the engine from storm developments with the intention of sticking it in the rado as a temp fix while the 2.9 was being rebuilt. But we cant get the 2.8 to communicate with the 2.9 ecu....so basically another 2.9 has come up and going to go for that.

I bought the engine for £550 and i'v also done the headgasket, and changed the quides tensioners and chains......I'm sure you know being a lot of dollar!!!

So after £600 for this engine and that will include courier to the mainland UK.

Compression testing also been done on her and is sweet as a nut!! Truely healthy late, low mileage VR anyone?

Anyone fancy a cheeky VR into there olop :p

Just thought i would offer the oppertunity ;)

hmmmm....not a bad price, but if its only 48k, why did you replace chains / tensioners? My engine came out of my raddo at 135k, and tensioners and chains showed no real signs of bad wear at all.....Replaced them anyway, as a full rebuild - but just seems a waste of time and moeny for u at only 48k. Still better to be done and know it i suppose, lol...

take it it doesnt come with loom etc?

Remember tensioners need replacing after a set amount of years, even if they look ok and have done low miles

but vr6 tensioners are hydraulic arent they there fore the tension is given by oil pressure? So as long as faces of tenisoners are ok, the thensioners are ok???

In all honesty mate, it was just for peice of mind! i wanted the engine to run sweet as a nut and feel fresh, so changed the gear over! Have someone interested on ed38.....so fingers crossed :)

no its without the loom etc....just the engine I'm afraid! I have based the brice on the fact i bought the engine for 550 from storm developments.....spent a bit of money on it and due to it being such low mileage, i think it warrents that sort of value

Cheers, phil
