As last nights No-Rice outing was such a success I thought I'd treat you guys to some pimpin' pics courtesy of NR's Musicman.

Say hello to our 1985 Volkswagen Santana GX5, full equiped with an Audi 80 60/40 lowering kit, 7 & 8 inch banded steels, comic stickers and plenty of motorway dirt.

I'll let the pics do the talking for now and myself and Alex (JackBlack) will follow up with the story behind this crazy piece of VW history.

Yes they do, their's however isn't quite as mobile i.e. hole in gearbox and no rear screen.

True...can't recall the last Santana I saw. In fact all B2 variants are a rare sight.

Its technically rocking 'u skool stu' stickers as i modded them appropriately but yeah.

I'm a little unsure of the relevance of the stickers tho, care to enlighten me?

We're slowly but surely turning it around, starting to become quite a driveable car, gunna be my show crusier this year while i work on building up the raddo so you should see it about a fair bit.

Yes it does starting with UD in a weekends time!

Nah not the one on ebay tomadomeit, was a carbon copy iirc but bodywork looked way better than ours.

How much did that go for?

This has brought back many memories of my Dad's B2 Passat estate. Diarrhoea brown paint with colour-coded vinyl seats. That thing was a bitch to sit in after it had been sat in the sun for a few hours! He bought it brand new in 1981 when I was about six months old. I remember being quite sad to see it eventually go.

This wasn't his car, I don't think any photos of it exist, but this is the same colour.

That story hits quite close to home for me too and i think contributes to part of the reason i bought such a fugly 'loon in the first place.

Was carted around in my early years in a Mars red passat just like that GL5 model.

Loved it.

Engine went flying past 200k before we sold it, just body work let it down.
