Had a crack at door speakers

Featured Replies

Went to B&q and picked up some mdf, have my 6x9 in my parcel shelf which i wasnt too keen on, as there on display and didnt want some piki to come along and smash my back window all for a set of 6x9. So made a template, and with a few nips and a few tucks, managed to get it fitted. Heres the first stage, next will be fitting some material/carpet. or maybe a retrim. hmm anyhow yeh, doorpods for £9 the might not look as good as the pro one's but £171 cheeper :)

look good, how do they sound?

alot better now i cut a hole just behind the cone. i though with them being inclosed they would sound good but they sounded terrible, was all distorted. After i cut the hole sounded alot better. May add some components aswell further along.

can you still wind your window down? i used to run a set of amped 6x9s in the front and a pair of 12" subs in the boot, was loud as fook!

yeh, but needs spacing out a bit.

I been doing a bit of DIYing over the past few weeks too, you must have used thicker MDF than me, mine clear it fine. just finished the 1 so far, looks pretty alright for like £8 worth of MDF, £8 black vinyl, and £4 for screws and glue... Thinking of spraying the speaker grille surrounds black but leaving the silver InPhase logo on them... 17cm speaker for the record...

looks good man, i fitted the other today and the winder clears it fine, i think the 6x9 is still pressing aganst the card at the back, as i chopped more away on the other side. Also i chopped a bit off at the front were the dash tuches as it looks like it squeezing, and dont really want the dash shifting over. Have you fitted that door card yet mate? also have you cut any holes in the back were the cone is?

Hey mate, had a go fitting them and after sawing the ends of the screws (far too long) they fit fine, next all I got to do is drill the holes and get the rubber grommets, but I gotta say tonight I'm far too pissed too lol.

Edit: Cut a hole about 3x3cm on the doorcard to allow me to plug in the wires for the speaker, that was it. Apart from that it fitted fine. Only problem is I've been majorly screwed over by IceClearout (ebay) and their returns site (Car Audio Returns)... just got my replacement and the cheeky fu*kers sent me ANOTHER faulty head unit... am not best pleased. My lesson to be learned.... dont buy electronics online!!

that makes two of us then about the ice clearout, i ordered 3.5" jbl speakers and got 4" faulty ones

Yea they seem dodgy I wont be ordering from them again... Learned my lesson about electronics on ebay. Although in the past 3 years its the first problem I've had on the net... Pretty annoying having to wire up a speaker setup and having nothing to test it with!! Looks good though, hope it sounds alright!!

Nice one Scoot, trimming those in leather or something, will be easy as.

If u need help just aks me mate...U saw what i did to my old 106 :)
