Mk2 polo running 20 psi boost

Featured Replies

I upped the boost on the beige beast from 16 to 20psi after remembering that the old supercharger used to run 19psi. It now peaks at 20 and holds at 18-19psi. I'm still running the chip that was mapped with the eaton on so it is not going to be lean at all (83% duty cycle on greens)

I can now spin up both front wheels all through second to 60mph when the road speed catches up with the tyre speed (if you get what i mean)

Let me know your thoughts

hard

Said regarding how hard it was trying to keep the phone from shaking all over the shop

In regards to upping the boost, i had borrowed an apexi avc-r off of a friend originally but he required it back. I fitted a bleed valve which would only adjust to 13psi, the actuator rod was then shortened to gain another 6-7psi

that rocks 8-)

you got a bigger MAP sensor then? i want one. but not prepared to pay for a map on digipants cause its a bit of a waste now.

It'll be going emerald at some point but i'm using the g40 ecu with the custom remap chip in it that was mapped when it was running 19psi with the eaton.

The standard G40 ecu map sensor reads up to 1bar over atmospheric pressure, if you go over this then you can just remap accordingly to compensate for the fact that the sensor is maxed out, as long as enough fuel is dialled in to keep the wideband figures sweet then there is no problem

Ace as usual, still lookin forward to seein a proper road video of this beast. Bet it surprises everyone!

Yeah, the thing is, it's hard to do a video that is not shaking all other the place due to gearchanges etc and also doing one that is in keeping with the law of the land lol. I have got one that my mate did from the back seat when i joined the A3 the other day, kinda shows how hard it pulls. I'll post that on youtube and do a link

Looking forward to seeing the video man ..

Id love to see peoples face when your stuck behind some dude cruising in the inside lane he pulls over and you just go absolutly roaring past !

I bet this car is soo much fun !

Wow, how pointless.

Sorry tav, i have trouble remembering things from time to time, it's just that i cant, for the life of me, remember you ever driving my car, so, i was just wondering how you feel confident enough to comment on the best way to drive it??

I've found that the fastest way to get to 60mph is to get the turbo spinning in 1st, change quickly into 2nd and have the tyres spinning at around 10mph faster than the actual road speed until the speeds level out together (hard to explain but that's about the best i can do).

Give it a go when you've got a 100% locking diff fitted to an ATV gearbox in a polo with a G40 engine with a turbo running at 20psi and then i'll be interested on what you think. Until that point, please explain the basis/experience you are calling on for the above comment. If you know any better then i'd like to know where i am going wrong as that is, in essence, what forums are all about, the sharing of knowledge gained through experience, so tav, you were saying............

why not mate??? VW made more than one :-D

But obviously by doing so you end up with a sub-optimal calibration for lower boost values, so whilst it's possible, it's not without compromise. I'm sure you'll find that with a larger MAP sensor and Emerald ECU that driveability improves immeasurably.

damn youtube is adictive jus spent best part of an hour watching g40's dick a variety of cars...HAHA

crazy fucker.....still keep findin myself watchin rolo's turbo'd polo on the rollin road when i go from one of your links hahahaha man its all about the beige beast hahaha :)
