Welding scaffold pole aint good. They're galvanised and the fumes given off are extremely toxic!

Not to mention it being a fucking waste of time!

Welding a scaffold pole between your rear suspension turrets isn't exactly the most scientific way of going about reducing flex in the chassis of your car now.. is it?!

Anyway.. they don't do much IMHO. Had them on and off a couple of polos.. never really noticed a difference. Front LOWER braces DO make a difference however.

scaffold pole is so stupidly heavy. you dont need thick walled tubing, it is only stopping compression so pretty much the thinnest you can find will be up to it.

Yea, got a front FK lower strut brace on its way but rear brace is on back order from FK so will be about a month until it arrives....oh well

OMP do a Mk3 upper rear brace for £25. Probably steel though not aly, but still cheap.

i made on out of square metal and bolts on to the top of my coilovers so i can be removed easy

yep, thats exactly why,. Its stopping you are top mounts moving closer, not stopping the chassis flexing! I have an OMP rear one on mine, and agree that u cant really notice a difference at all, lol! However, my GED brace at front, was noticeable. Where does a lower front one fit?? How different is it to a ged bar?

fits between the lower track control arms, if you are car is lowerd 70mm or lower its a complete and utter waste of time..

A GED brace IS a front lower brace.

I was wonderin where to fit the front lower brace as well. I'm gonna get some polyurethane (powerflex/superflex) bushes while I'm at it i think. do you have to do some drilling to mount the rear strut brace to the turrets???

Most likely. Mine should screw to the turrets but i don't wanna be going mad witha drill at this stage so my shiny rear brace probably aint doing squat except look kinda good!

A GED brace IS a front lower brace.

Maybe that's what people have started calling them recently since Ged started making them, but a front lower has always been the one between the track control arms.

If your car is more than -70mm I doubt handling is in the fore front of your mind.

mines lowered -70mm and its mint down the twistys, going to fit a lower brace bar to the front and see what happens, whys it a waste of time and what else would be at the fore front of my mind
