1993 polo + No ignition power

Featured Replies

Have a weird problem and being a complete noob I don't know what I should be looking at. When the engine is started I loose power to anything on the ignition supply, which means no headunit.

However when the key is in the ignition and the ignition is switched on the headunit is fine (has power)

Any ideas on what i should try?

Thanks

Had a fiddle with the key in the ignition whilst engine was running and everything sprung to life, seems to be a bit of a fluke tho as i have not managed it since!

sounds like ua ignition switch bhind ua barrel what year is it if you can take off the cowling around stering coloumn try pull of cconecter for switch get an ignition switch fro g+s car parts and plug that i turn it with a screw driver an if it starts thats what u ned to replace

Thanks for the reply, did a quick fix on this one. Found the plug on back of the barrel, when the engine was running if you pushed it towards the barrel i got ignition power again. After a bit of fiddling it seemed that it would only work if there was a constant pressure applied to it so i tie wrapped the plug to the ignition barrel so its always got some pressure keeping it pushed in. Has worked so far and i have my headunit back :D

haha cool we love electape just done a temp repair with a fuel lek wit the stuff glad to b of an asstince lol
