its the lower half of the 8v bumper the splitter is the black bit at the bottom of the bumper

oh and welcome mate :D:thumbsup:

thanks, how much would a new one cost as the other side is rusted?

check your local yellow pages for a local scrap yard give them a call or pop down and see what they have, theres quite a few mk4's being broke on here atm so a search in the forsale section might be a benefit and you might find something mate  i cant see them being too expensive mate not 100% on a figure though sorry

thanks, i'll have a look when i pick it up on wednesday

you don't by any chance know what coolour red it is from the pics?

naa sorry but you will be able to find out preety easily... when it comes open the boot and try to look at your knees through the rear bumper and you will see a colour plaque when you get that colour post it up on here and someone will be able to tell you. there was a colour chart somewhere on here with all the polo colours on maybve have a look for that.

yep mate thats the one, right colour too well its red atleast

haha, thanks for you rhelp mate

no problem dude, its what were here for! good luck with it and hope u get it sorted and get it modified :D

hopefully i'll start with taking the polo and 1.4 badges off the back and spraying the back one black, then i think some clear front and side indicators and maybe a badgeless grill. the rest like alloys and lowering etc will have to wait till i have some spare cash!

unfortunately it has some really chavvy lexus lights on it which i think need changing to some originals tinted black, got my eye on some on eBay.

are they the chrome lexarse lights mate? if so they are gash but there are some you could spray all red like VW_tecnix (think thats his name) and his lok bloody good abit differant from the usual mk5 rears. and yeah soudns like you have the right ideas mate. :D

Yeah it sounds like you did, the only thing I would check out is the underside and that for signs of rust... cause if you're front bumper is rusted then your car is no stranger to the elements!!

Welcome to ClubPolo and it looks like a nice mk4, whats your plans? :)

hopefully, clear front and side indicators, take off the polo and 1.4 rear badges and either paint both dub badges black or just do the back and get a badgeless grill also probably change the chav lights for some smoked black ones.

and hopefully when i've got lots of spare cash i'll get alloys lowered and exhaust.

My first mods would be get it dropped, clear indicators, remove the door rubbing strips and badgeless front grille... Mk4 steels look nice in my opinion with low profiles and a good refurb, gotta keep with the VAG theme on the wheels though... dont go chavving it with 18s or the like. lol

Looks like a tidy car, will be nice to see how it comes along!

one thing i've always wondered is if you do buy bigger wheels say only and inch or two does the speedo start reading incorrectly?

most of my mods will come down to having the money so it'll be the cheapest things first lol

first stop, free mods! take of those darn badges on the back!

as for the bump strips i was thinking more along the lines of painting them red to match the bodywork

opinions?

Edited by martz

most common mod for bump strips is just removing them, a lot easier than painting!

the only thing i've heard is theres normally a long dirty line underneath thats hard to remove, is there any truth in that?
