3 Points

Featured Replies

Cut a long story short, got pulled by the police on friday and received 3 points!

How much is my insurance likely to go up with the 3 points?

Cheers

whats the 3 points for?? and whats you are age? might be able to get a better idea then

if it's an sp30 speeding in a 30 then most places.. nothing, aslong as it's only free most companies take into account how stupidly easy it is to pick up 3 points so they don't mind

I think mine went up by £30 or so. It was a long time ago now...

only way to find out is to ring your insurance company as it's up to them how much they charge. But a lot of companies don't increase the pay at all for 3 points these days since so many people have 3 points, speed cameras have made the points system meaningless. However, you still need to tell your company about it whether they charge or not or they have a grounds to refuse to pay you a penny if you crash.

yes. this is true. mine didn't change at all. it even dropped massively when it was renewed.

I'm 21, it was for a highway offence 453 (dont know what that means , but that what it says on the ticket)!

Ring them up and chances are, til renewal, they'll say "OK, thanks for letting us know" and not charge you extra til renewal.

I've had 3 points for speeding pretty constantly for years (don't know why they bother taking them off, I only seem to get another 3 put back on 10 minutes later), and it doesn't make a lot of difference, most insurers will generally put 1 speeding ticket down to an honest mistake. Any more, or a conviction for a "dangerous" offense, they will pile on the premiums though.

my insurance company didnt care with mine, aslong as i told em :)

I was with MoreThan when i got my SP30 and come renewal time it was £600-odd without points declared, then i told them about the points and it went up to over £900!!!!

Now i'm with Adrian Flux and it only added around a tenner.

mine went up like 2 pound a month I'm with direct line

I got an LC20 when i was 16

(Driving not in acordance with licence) :?

I was riding my moped with my mate on the back, with no L-Plates

My car insurance is about £300-£400 more with my points declared even though it was 2 and a half years ago when i was 16 and on a fcuking moped!!!

Now i have both my car and full bike licence so why does it affect my ability to drive safely? It Doesn't

Its just a way for insurance companies to ass fkuc you for more of your hard earned pennies!

I fought the law and the law won!

Mate on the back. no L-plates!

Sorry to be blunt, but you deserved 3 points!

It doesn't matter that you were on a moped, it's still "driving" a vehicle!

To be honest, compared to some of the stuff I was doing when I was 16, that's mild.

with the moped thing tho its classed as driving with no insurance (surely) as your insurance wouldn't cover you if you had an accident while doing it, any thing to do with insurance and they will bend you over a barrel.

I know it was wrong and i shouldn't have done it!!!

How does it make me a bigger risk is the question!!!!

Why do i deserve to pay an extra £300 a year for my car and extra £200 a year for my bike when

it in no way affects my current risk of driving as i now have a full car and bike license???

After all insurance is based on risk assessment!!!

If anything it has taught me to drive more carefully esspecially as i could easily lose my license if i get another 3 points!! (and have to retake my car and bike test)

Based on that, i think i should have to pay less than someone who was caught speeding as they could easily commit this crime again.

Please read my point of view carefully!

I feel for you mate ..

I have got two fixed penalty 3 points a IN10 and a LC20 you should of gotten a IN10 aswell as a LC20 for your moped thing .

I'm not explaining why i have these offences as there is a thread about it on here ..

Cheapest quote for a Mk2 Golf 16vGti i could find was 4K !

Going to have to swap the engine to a 1.3 for a while .

Still going to cost 1k and thats with my mum on the policy too!

Guess i was lucky!

Sorry to be blunt, but you deserved 3 points!

So you've never gone over the speed limit then?

I got 3 for "running a red light" when it changed from green to amber as i was crossing,

cant wait to get my renewal :-D

Yeah, who hasn't, but i didn't get 3 points for that!

  • 2 weeks later...

so what did you get 3 points for?!

so what did you get 3 points for?!

Exiting onto a motorway to early!

Basically i was coming to the end of the slip road and it was backed up, couple of cars in front were just cutting across the shevrons so i followed!

Officer see's young lad in GTi doing it so he gets pulled, white van driver and old guy in merc dont get stopped!

Possibly classed as dangerous driving or not following the highway code or something...

i'd give vosa a call, find out what prosecution code you MIGHT get, then pop on gocompare.com and do a quote with the code, then without the code and see how much difference...

3 points on a licence is nothing to worry about though pal,

When i did a quote of elephant it didn't change at all!

It was classed the same as using the hard shoulder incorrectly!
