I'm getting regular frozen doors and locks on my 6N. It seems to be 3 areas...the door seal, the lock itself and the handle/catch mechanism. The last is most difficult to sort - the key will turn, pushing the knob up, but when the handle pulls out nothing seems to happen with the catch.

Any ideas on how to sort this? But also, what sort of maintenance can prevent it...both the door mechs but also the door seals?

Climbing in the boot is getting really tedious and arriving at work unable to exit the car is not cool!

I've got the same prob on my mk3,, , its getting a bit unflatterin, lol

It only seems to happen on my driver side door, I have no idea what to do about that but my mk3 seems to be a victim of it too....

you can get specific stuff for locks, i have some in some xmas car gift pack from halfrauds

With the locks its best to get some WD40 in there. Use the spray tube in the lock and Mech.

As for the rubber seal use some AG trim and rubber spray and let it dry. Now the rubber seal should be all nice and black and the door is less likely to freeze closed :)

I used WD in my locks/ handle as it was sticking slightly (not due to frost)

I never get frozen locks.

Had the same issue, but silicon spray on all the mech inside is best way forward, if you can be bothered to get inside the doors. Other than that like evryone else said wd40 in the actual lock and I found before lubricating everything with silicon spray hot water on the door panels helped.

I had a similar embarrasing moment where I got in and couldnt get out, had to move the car where it was in sunlight sat there for 10 minutes before the inside of the door mech had unfrozen. guys at work thought it was very funny as they could of let me out.

i regularly coat my locks in WD40.. never frozen on me

my missus Corrado door lock mech froze OPEN the other day! scary.. lol

I have the same problem when its cold, i cant unlock the drivers side door but i can unlock the passengers side, wich is anoying!

when its cold i ush the button on my remote and all he doors open except the boot which wont open untill I've driven a few miles and inside the car has warmed up lol these strange little things lol.

i have haad that problem the past few weeks, and now the locks are un-locked however i cannot open the door!

Can anyone tell me if that is the lock freezing or if it is buggered!

Might just be the handle have you tried spraying WD40 in your handles? Mine were sticking so bad but now they're fine.

I was gona suggest pissing on your door if its frozen but WD40 sounds a better plan
