Mk2 - GT Project Finished*

Featured Replies

Well it has been a fun few months but I now have a road legal car!! I have just been doing a few miles in it and so far nothing has fallen off or broken (Touch Wood) :)

The ride quality has changed a bit (a lot firmer and harsher) but it seems ok and its all ready for the sprint day tomorrow!!

Now its mechanically sorted it needs a set of nice rims and a heavy drop ..

Those wheels and tyres are awesome. I definitely want a set now. Were the tyres expensive?

Cheers,

I think they are around the £60 mark..

They seem to do the job well!! :)

Quality!

sweet mate, cant help but think with no strips on it woudl look better though. and them wheels and tyres look great for the motorsport look. i like!

NICE!

love it....and the tyres bet they grip well lol

i'm incredibly jealous, alloy pressed plates would really top it off.

He's been steering clear of those very things, it's a sporting car.

Make sure you get some documenting going on at this sprint, pictures and video are always welcome.

No worries :) I'm pretty sure that a few guys will have their cameras and I'm going take mine :)

Respect for all the work you've put in :-) great thread too for everyone to use.

Looks tough and all business for what you want it for 8-)

I've had to drop a tank out for welding before and I tell you(especially in the winter months) it's not fun :-(

Did you get the inner arch patched? I found similar problems with my mk2 square which I was able to deal with without just bodging. I would personally be popping those arch covers off to check for rot and at the very least treat them with some Bilt Hamber cavity wax especially with all the good mechanical that you've done.

Fair play though it's for hitting the track.

Mark! I've been trying to find this thread for bloody ages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like you've been busy with the old GT - glad shes finally going to some good use! - I'm just reading your mega thread! That engine was certainly the best GT I've ever driven (which is four!) and thats before you've done any of your mods and referbs!

How the mark two now? Take you've started racing her now? Whats your times like? Not bad for a engine with 186k!!!!!

What happend to the old gt shell? - she go down the scrappy?

Cheers..

Yeah it pulls really well. So far its is basically standard its going to be a little rocket ship when I'm finished. :unibrow: I've done a sprint day and its gone really well, so I am just looking forward to some good track days this year including Nurburg towards the end of the year :)

Yeah the shell went to the scrap yard in the sky. It really was just a rolling shell though.

What you driving at the moment?

Mark..

Well this is me on the track day.. :)

Cheers guys.. :)

Well I've been using her as my daily driver as my BM likes to drink fuel and also I want to get a few miles on her to she how it all holds together, and so far she has been great.

Very quick for what it is and it kept a 318is honest up to 75mph when I was joining the motorway :-D

I swapped the ARB round today as well and it has softened up the front end a bit which is good as it might help to reduce the understeer a bit. Pics are in my thread :)
