right the car is a 1998 mk4 polo. the wheels i thought were the best for it are sum borbet 16" by 9" wide and i think the offset is 20mm, just checking they're the ones to have.

he aint the only one with a clue. but hes right. you dont want to go for such large wheels. gunna cause you a lot more hassle that just bolting them on. and you will need a fair bit of stretch to make them legal.

they are not necessarily the best. it depends what look you going for. if you have your heart set on 16s then your car will be different which isnt bad. but it will cost more. 15s at most IMO

well for a 6n mk4 like urs. i wouldnt go bigger than 14x9 no and i think everyone eles will back me up there. anything wider at that size wouldnt go in. but if u wanted thinner wheels you could go to 16's but i wouldnt recomend it.

I'm running 14x8s and they're close. Some people are runing 14x9s and they're even closer.

There are a few running 15x9s and their arches are huge with the pulling, so 16x9s will scrub like a bitch.

Just so you have an idea, most people run 14x7s or 14x8s or 15x7s

with money id get 8x14 fronts and 9x14 at the back. with archs rolled pull and flaired
