l wouldn't like it haha, how rough would that run, the 3 combustions take place at virtually the same time then theres nothing for a while then all again lol, quality idea though. I doubt that would an accuracte copy of how it works though to be honest... baad idea

Guy called John Godfrey Parry Thomas had a 27 litre Liberty aero engine in a car called 'Babs' and was trying for the world speed record in the 1920s on Pendine Sands. This car had a CHAIN final drive! One chain per side, exposed, right next to the spoked rear wheels. At 160mph or so, one of the rear wheels collapsed, a spoke got in between the chain and sprocket and as the car tipped over, the chain came up and took most of his head off. It just kills me - 27 litres on a chain drive? What were these guys on?

For those that crave such detail...each Deltic engine for rail use is an 18 cylinder (3 banks of 6) and each locomotive has 2 deltic engines...unlike a car,railway locomotives usually employ a system of electric transmission..the diesel engine is directly linked to a generator which then supplies electricity to 'traction motors' mounted on each axle. There are other forms of transmission used but the elctric variety is the most commonly used today. A quick visit to Youtube should reveal plenty of aural treats if you type in Deltic... :-D
