theres an earth fault on my car somewhere.

before i go searching like a madhead behind the dash and boot carpets and stuff,

does anyone know anything about where its most likely to be or heard anyting about them before?

wahat var?ae etc an check the earth going to the enige or gearbox an clean them up as I've had this problem b4 what makes you say earth problem?

its a mark 4 n plate.

the opld mans a sparks, did a few tests to see where theres electrical flow and the connection tothe main engine earth was a bit tempremental.

so I'm guessing at that, I'm more than open to ideas though.

what was the cause of yuors in the end?

mine was a older polo but yea it was the engine earth cleaned that up an all was gd

I've got no interior lights, ignition lights, indicators, nothing.

ah rite mine would just die wen i tryie to start it an you check live termnal cables am asumin batery is all charged up etc an what is it just dead all together or what? am a vw mmech so xplain to me xcatly the problem?

ok, basically, theres no power what so ever, even the time on the clocks doesnt show up, trip meters dead, central locking doesnt work, absolutely everything.

batterys absolutely fine, electrical test showed it was full, I've had green flag out to it, they suspect the fuse box.

I've found a fuse box under the steering wheel, but i thought that there was a main fuse sort of thing, and thats bigger than the other fuses, but i cant find it.

check power wires to stater motor etc che ther not lose an yea best thing is to chekall fuses pull them out one by one an some time ther is a main fuse under bonnet on top of batery and chek a power feed to bk of fuse box by oulling it down and look for a big red wire etc and i have seen a fuse box faliure b4 on a mk 2 golf tho same symptoms

i couldnt see any fuses under the bonnet, i expected theyd be one near the battery but theres not.

ill go and have a fiddle with the fuses now.

see how things go.

pulled all the fuses out and put them back.

still nothing.

had a wiggle of the wires around it, but it still dont wanna play.

what bout positive wires goun to starter motor? check ther no lose or any thin

I'm not gettin paid for a week or two so if i can fix it myself i will do.

but the way its going, thats gettin more and more like its gonna be expensive.

fixed it

wasnt the earths, turned out to be the main power lead to the fuse box.

i hate car electronics.
